Two more arrests made in Buck Mountain drug bust
BY Robert Sorrell
Two more individuals have been arrested in connection to the May drug bust on Buck Mountain and another person has pleaded guilty to distributing narcotics.
Susie Oaks, Roan Mountain, was arrested on June 15 and Pamela D. Isaacs, Hampton, was arrested on Tuesday on federal grand jury indictments out of Greeneville. The two individuals have been charged with conspiracy to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, conspiracy to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.
Oaks and Isaacs are alleged to have been connected to a Buck Mountain drug raid, when four individuals were arrested on similar cocaine and marijuana charges. In that incident, Rhudy Oaks, Roger Oaks, Terry Oaks and Benjamin Clawson were arrested on grand jury indictments and have since made court appearances. Their first court appearance was on May 17, following the weekend raid.
One individual, Benjamin Clawson, entered a guilty plea in court on June 16. According to court records, he pleaded to one count of conspiracy to distribute narcotics. Clawson is scheduled for a sentencing hearing on December 1 in Greeneville.
The remaining individuals, including Isaacs and Susie Oaks, appeared in court on Wednesday and Magistrate Judge Dennis H. Inman scheduled dates for further proceedings. A motion cutoff date has been set for July 23. A plea agreement date is set for Sept. 7 and a jury trial is set to begin on Sept. 21 at 9 a.m. before District Judge Ronnie Greer. A pretrial conference and motion hearing is also set for Aug. 5 at 9 a.m.
In addition to the Buck Mountain drug bust, three other individuals have been arrested in connection to the case. During the execution of a search warrant at 203 Tower Road, Roan Mountain, investigators found a moonshine still in the woods. Officers then arrested Rex Whitehead and Jeff L. Whitehead and charged them with manufacture of an alcoholic beverage. Rex Whitehead is the father-in-law of Benjamin Clawson.
Rex Whitehead was additionally charged with four counts of sale of Schedule VI drugs and Jeff Whitehead was charged with simple possession of marijuana. Another individual, Melissa Cutshaw of Hampton, was also at the scene and was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and simple possession of marijuana. Cutshaw's pleaded guilty in General Sessions Court.
Jeff and Rex Whitehead are scheduled to appear in Sessions Court on July 16.
