They are nearly impossible to get rid of once they get in your house. People have spent thousands of dollars with no success. There is a local pest control company that specializes in bed bug problems..they use this new technology with heat to kill them. I think it is called Chappels or sometihng like that. Just google it. I think the heat method was what they recently used in the Public Housing apartments. Pretty expensive though.

I called them for an estimate.Around 2,000.00.What do you do.I have seen about four bugs.I tried steam heat last night but still got bite. After talking to them. You talk about depression. There has to be another solution. You have to put all your clothes in the dryer for an hour then bag them.Anything material the same way and move everything out of your house .Basically throw everything away.I'm desperate.I need help.I know someone else has went through this.

I believe Alcohol will kill them, but you have to be careful...very flammable. I was watching some TV show about this where a man sprayed down several areas in his house with alcohol and then something caused a spark..lights or something and the house went up in flames. Probably not the best solution, but you probably could use it in a limited way if you're very careful until you find something better.
Are there any of those bug bombs that would work??

Well I have been hours bagging everything up in my living room.Thats where I have found four bugs.honesty I have learned alot in 5 days.I have talked to three exterminators and heres the deal.I was told that TN has a 500% increase and that 150 places has been treated this week.I first thought they said buisnesses but there is not that many in eliz so it must just be places. They say its the hardest thing to get rite of.I sleep on the couch and thats where I found the bugs.I woke up 2 weeks ago with places itching and burning.Thought it was a mosquito.A couple of days later my friends wife accidently mention they had them.well I thought oh no,The rest of the family said no its some other bug but the exterminator has been here 5 or 6 times.Any way I know now they didn't want meto know.Thats why its spreading, people carry them in on others.I have enough sense to know to stay away from peoples houses now.You would think people would know better.I am horrified. If I did what one exterminator said I would have to throw everything away.now people there's got to be another way.My couch is going to the dump tomorrow tho.It breaks my heart.Every thing is out of the one room.No signs yet of any other rooms.I got to different sprays from Mize.Every thing sprayed. All other stuff to be washed in hot water.Heat will kill them.I will let you know progress.Any help if you survived this, please help.I'm barricaded in another room, the smell is awful.Could be harmful.I dont know how those suckers could survive. Why could'nt my friends have been honest. Now look at the money and trouble they have caused.I told the people who visit me and they are checking their house and they appreciated me.I might get talked about but I would never want a friend to go through this.My beautiful couch.I am in shock.I sure need a friend.

I know this might seem crazy, but I would go get a loan (try to get the bestdeal you can) and then just go ahead and pay for the $2000.00 heat treatment. You will end up spending that much or more over the long haul, especially if you have to start throwing things out.

In my home I have bed liners on every bed, and pillow liners on every pillow. The liners are plastic on the inside and cloth on the outside. Just slip them on and the be bugs cannot get in or out of your bedding.

Wash everything you can in HOT water, dry on hot. If you can part with your furniture (couch, recliners) throw them away or cover them with plasic also. Do these things before the bed bugs get in your walls.

You have to take your bed frames apart and clean in all the cracks, otherwise youll have to throw those out also. Wash all your clothes, even the clean ones. And keep washing your bedding every other day.

My best advice is to cover everything in plastic, and if you can live without it throw it away or put it in storage wrapped in plastic for at least a year. Remove carpet if you have any, it is the only way. Bed bugs will not live if they have no soft surfaces to cling to.

Cover all plug-in outlets and light switches in painters tape. They love to get in those places and once they do it will be too late, youll have to spend thousands or move.

Run the heat on full blast on a very warm day. ALL DAY. Leave the house while you do this, it needs to be really hot in your house. Make sure you only run the central heating unit. Many people have accidentally burned their house down by lighting electric, kerosine, and fireplace heaters in an attempt to get rid of bed bugs.

About your carpet, no amount of carpeting is worth risking a bed bug infestation. Get everything out RIGHT NOW.

You said Bed Bugs will not live if they do not have soft surfaces to cling to..so if you have all wood floors, does that mean you are safe and how to they live inside your walls??

What I dont understand. If you can get them so easy then why is every house not invaded. Also can the state come in and condemn an apartment building if its full of them.Chappells told me to never let any one in my house.Too many people spreading bugs.is this going overboard,I am really worried.I don't want to be obsessed with this but I am really upset.Where's the best place to get those mattress covers? Also the plastic things that snap into plug ins .Will they work as good as tape.Thank you I sprayed last night and we took light covers off and we didn't see anything but I will do that tomorrow.I put all my throw rugs in plastic bags and will take them to the laundry mat,If we wash the rugs in hot water and hang them outside to dry.will they be Ok and store them in plastic to we are sure their gone.Is there one spray better than others? Is there any way to draw them out of hiding?

Just wanted to up date you on my problem.I sprayed a week ago today with two sprays from Mize's.One for bedbugs and one for their eggs.I threw the couch away I was sleeping on.I took drapes, rugs and everything out and bagged in plastic bags.Washed everything in hot water and bagged again in different bags.I cleaned my windows and blinds. It has been a week and I have'nt been bitten any more.I did'nt see any signs on my beds but I washed everything. The exterminator said I could have been luckly and caught them fast.I will have to be very careful for a while.I sprayed again tonight in case the eggs hatch some where. If I could get them ,then any body could.I hope I am out of the woods.I am really upset over this.I will keep you informed.Does any one know how long I need to be on edge?

Its been two weeks and I haven't been bitten. You talk about being paranoid.I'm thinking maybe the babies are too little and I can't feel the bite.I actually read on the internet where people are having to go to the Psychiatrist. What scares you so bad is how they say you can't hardly get rid of them.I hope I have.I wish other people who have had them would share their experience.I will keep learning about these bugs in case any one else has trouble.

What is your opinion on Terminix of Johnson cities effectiveness on bed bug extermination? I think they are in my car because I get bit when I'm in there and Terminix says they don't live in cars. I'm about to spend $876 on them and I've already spent 2000 dollars, have nothing to my name and have what the docs say is the worst reaction to them that they've ever seen. I can't sleep, I am in utter agony and my mental health has suffered a severe blow. I feel like I can't escape these things. I lived in an apartment in Michigan initially and my next door neighbor had them for a year and a half and didn't tell anyone, my landlord was negligent to begin with and my old neighbor turned on me being the cause for the infestation, when I was pouring all my money into irraticating the problem, only to be dooped by both my landlord and what was my friend/good terms neighbor, because they were both willing to nothing. I spent a week in a hotel, went broke and then came here to find I was still waking up to these unbearable bites. I've done all I know how to do to literally save my own sanity, educate myself, get rid of these and was extra cautious to do so. I need to know if anyone has used Tricities, Tn Terminix to irradicate bed bugs successfully? As stated before I believe them to be in the car and I can't spend $876 more dollars on this to have it not work because they are also living in my car and Termimix says they can't when my research indicates otherwise.

I know of a duplex that is infested-already in the walls! The landlord knows this and sprays and just lets people keep moving in. The people that have live there have took police reports out, but nothing has been done. People live there 2 weeks to a month and move out by that time it is to late! This is in the city limits and have kids living in them.

Invested, they need to be reported to the health department. Once reported, the health department will usually step in and escalate things. But being that this is Elizabethton, they'll likely sweep it under the rug, but it's worth a shot.

It is very hard to get rid of bed bugs. The best thing u can do is to learn everything u can about them. They inject a sedation to keep u asleep while sucking your blood. Scary right? The best time to catch them is with a flashlight around 3am to 6am. They can be around your matress, check in the seems for black droppings or bug skin from where they shed, but they can live in the top of your curtains, nail holes, along the wall where the carpet connects. Any wooden areas, bed post, etc. Adults can live a year without feeding and the babies 6 months. U can carry in an egg on your shoe from anywhere, thats how easy they can spread. U need to bag everything in black trash bags and sit in the sun for a few days unless u can put it in the dryer on high heat. U need a very poisoness bug spray listed for bed bugs. Spray everything! Walls, floors, closets...close up the rooms and dont stay in them for at least a week to a month if u can. Spray over it once a day. Its not like getting rid of roaches, ants, spiders...its worse! Heat kills them. I think it takes 120 to kill them. I know people who had them and even moved to try to get rid of them but it didnt work. If u keep your matresses, lightly spray them with bleach but be sure to wrap them in plastic and set them in the hot sun for as long as u can. Clean out your dressers and spray them while drying your clothes and shoes on high heat. U have to work hard and go to extreme. Good luck.

Be careful if you have to do business in the Circuit Court Clerks office in Carter County. That office has bed bugs.
