Just read in the Johnson City Press:
"The Grindstaff castle that sits on the shores of Boone Lake will be auctioned off to the highest bidder on June 16."

It's owned by Steve Grindstaff and being auctioned with no reserve. Wonder why he's gettin rid of it?

anyway, all this talk about steve grindstaff, what about his brother tom???? if steve helps out charities, why cant he help out his brother? his brother recently had some of his foot taken off and the wife is not working, they are really having hard times, if he loves his family so much, why hasnt he helped them yet....? i think the number one charity should begin at home.....family first i always say......the brother is really having hard time and needs a little extra help, he is doing the best he can.

I'd consider Steve G one of those guttersnipes. Crooked as a dog's leg! Figure a way to work this information about the brother into a big advertisment for grindstaff motors and sorry stevie will go for it maybe chip in a few cents toward his "brother-keeping" DUTY. The dealer, wheelerdealer rather!

$28 million plus for a castle! Highest priced one I located in the WORLD! Selling castle to start some new businesses and twins coming soon, WSJournal reads. Five car selling businesses they have already. To be so small an area as Elizabethton is, it 'do make ye wonder' just who buys this many vehicles. First time ever to call The Ridges in JC "a downsizing" manuever. I'll start the bidding?$5 !!! if you'll throw in a few movies to watch in that theater, Sir Grindstaff; A boy's dream of being a Knight. lol. Goes to show: Dreams can become reality, one way or another. I will dream tonight of new shiny shoes and a juicy hamburger...fries too with that, please. Dreammaker, I'll have it by side of pool if that's convenient for you.

Why don't he just lower the price A LOT???? Selling to the highest bidder at an auction is risky isn't it? What if the highest is $100,000? Or does he really not even care, is he thattttt rich?

Makes no sense to me either. We must be out of Grindstaff's league of finance, you think? You can bet, no matter which way it goes, this 'yuck" is not losing anything. Ever wonder where he got this much money for one buy/item? I too searched Castles/prices around the world - absolutely none priced as this grindstaff one is. It has been common knowledge for many years that the man works in the drug industy, big stockholder. Another point: the auction company get a huge %, from 25 to 35/40 %,(my home was auctioned) this being a ridiculous charge - this particular company auctions properties worldwide. Steve's is furnished. The castle burned a few years ago; "how" is the question or maybe "WHY" is the real question. I worked for him in the capacity of maid/housekeeper for a short while. He's an arrogant ass! and a criminal in my opinion. Ha!wanting to be a knight in shining armor, He sure has failed that goal.

Guess his hero was Scarface. Now he's going broke and Sh-tface. What the h-ll kind of name is "grindstaff" anyways? Sounds like a form of the clap. Derived from "Groinstaph"?

Now don't go getting snooty and smartmouthed. Grindstaff is a very well known name in Carter Co. area. There's even a road named Grindstaff Hollow. Used to be a Grindstaff Grocery in Stoney Creek - years ago. But this car business "takes the cake" as well as SG. For him, we will keep the last connotation. Don't know anything, but I wouldn't put ANYTHING past SG either. btw, Scarface DID come around this area occasionally. I recall hearing this as a small child...and after all, the area used to be dubbed "Little Chicago". Yes, it was. PS look in the phone book to see the many listings for Grindstaff. I must look up how the name came about...likely something to do with grinding mills.

Is he still married to Ashley? Is this a part of a divorce settlement or are the Grindstaff's just dwonsizing like everyone else these days? Isn't she pregnant? And last but not least, who would pay 28 million for this house when you can live next door to Oprah for a whole lot less?

After reading all the comments about Steve and Ashley Grindstaff, I have come to the conclusion there are many wanna-be Grindstaff's in this area. I believe this could be classified as Tennessee envy and jealousy. PS.....for all those still talking about drugs, get over it. Do you think with his personna that either the local, state or federal authorities would have grabbed him by now? That would be a major feather in some prosecutor hat. Get real and get over it.

You have no idea! You have to be totally, completely lost as to the reality of the situation here. There is not the first one commenting here the least bit jealous nor envious. Seriously. I knew the man 30 years ago, way before his car businesses. He was an arrogant slob then AND a "Backer". Never have I forgotten the things I saw going on. Treated his employees like dirt beneath his feet. Your comments just make me shake my head in consternation and amazement.
