You know everyone can judge a book by it cover but do you know the heart of a man. A homeless man has more heart on the inside then he does on the out side. The book only tells the out part of a man but can you see the tears, the pain, and the hurt of a loving mother who is now so sadden about letting her child visit a friend and was told to call her when he was ready to come home. No! You people just go on saying things you don't know anything about. Let God be the judge and I can guarantee that you can't even toss the first stone. God is the judge and the re-payer. God said that vengeance is his. He will come down with judgment upon sinner, and that a person's life is not to be taken by man, God said that their is a set time that he will visit those who bring down the nations with evil, that these men walk like they are in Sodom and that they have the right to take innocents lives. But now say GOD! Christ is soon to come back and every man who has done wrong in their body rather by word or deed will pay. My nephew was saved and I will see him again and for those who don't know the full story should be silent and pray that nothing evil will happen to someone you love. It is not about the time or the place. It is about man having respect for someone else life. If you have no respect for others what does that say about yourself. You life, your morals, you pain, your heart. It is high time that we all take responsibility for our actions. It is not man who is doing all these ruthless killings but the DEVIL and his demons is behind this all. The Bible says we do not wrestle with flesh and blood but the spirit behind the man. And I have to say that the spirit behind most of the people who made negative comments may as well be standing with the shooter and just a guilty as pulling the trigger. Man can not live only to hurt others but to walk in love for his brother and I can say Elijah had love for others and he respected others. So what he had us some signs, People are always looking for the bad to plead their case. He was a "A" student. More than we can say about others.

It doesn't matter what the case was or is, my nephew is deaddddddddddddddddddddddddddd !
it does matter. it matters alot. first i will say i am sorry for your loss.i also hope they find the sob that did this. i think the posts are more about kids in general not just your nephew. more of the older ppl will post things like when i was a kid.... well i have to admit i am one of those older persons. when i waqs growing up thing were alot different as most times at least 1 parent would be at home. perhaps back then it only took 1 paycheck to get by. i guess kids got more attention then. the fact is though,as you read this, you can perhaps wonder why i keep saying the word "kids".well fact of the matter is,that is what he was, just a child.now i can look back 40 yrs or i can look back to last week,no "kid", i believe, should be out on the streets at that hour.to say that it's ok for him to be that late because he wanted to is a bunch of crap. he is not old enough to make wise decisions no matter how "old" he thinks he is. the world has changed alot since i was a kid but somethings dont change just for the common sense involved in it. is it the parents fault? i believe it can be. depends on what the kid told her before he went out that evening. i remember telling mom i was staying over a friends house and the friend did likewise, hence we were both out on the street. but enough about that. in the areaq he lived i dont think the nicest of ppl are going to out at that hr. gotta use a little common sense sometimes. i shall say a prayer for him as no child should die before even living, god bless.

The mayor doesn't replace the retired police officers therefore residents taxpayers don't see a neighborhood patrolman most hours of the day or night. We're suppose to be a community. This is our faultby not going to the community meetings and demanding as taxpayers for police to stop giving parking tickets and start patrolling!

I think/hope what Walter was trying to say was that he "didn't" deserve to die. You also can't blame this kids mother nor the police for this unfortunate situation. We need to blame all of the people who lives by the "no snitching rule." Alot of killers are getting off the hook because someone who saw something don't want to tell the police because that would be considered "snitching." Such a shame!!
I want to give my condolence to the family and loved ones

way arent the cops takin the proper action that is obviously needed in this city??? one of the boys is like a brother to me and i no he doesnt deserve this. its not the parents fault its the cops theyre supposed to protect and serve but where were they?
well my heart goes out to the family of the boy who died and my heart goes out to my brother
13 year olds are not suppose to be out at that time. my little sister is 13 and my mother HAS NEVER and WILL NEVER let her out at that time. she comes home 930, and shes usually over a friends. why do you think little children shouldnt be out that time? so things like this dont happen.

Hold on so the conclusion you guys managed to come up with is that the boy whose name is Elijah by the way was out late so he deserved to be shot. Are you serious? Time has nothing to do with senseless crimes I don’t care what time it was. What killed Eli was the ignorance of another young man who I hope is caught and handled with justly. Trinna b nic on nj.com but dat waz ma manz cuzzin so keep commentz lik dat to urself *ignorance is bliss*

Saw this in on the news this morning with my 13yr old son. Parents of this boy saying it was not deserving for their child to be shot dead, that he is a good boy.My sons comments were "mom it was 1:00 am".
So yeah, if he was such a good boy why on earth did these parents let him stay out so late. He's 13!! he shouldn't have been out on the streets, where were his parents to make sure he was inside safe?
My condolences either way. He didn't deserve to have neglected guidance.

how can anyone blame the cops for not protecting. No 13 yr old should be out at 1am period. Its the parents fault for not being parents. Shame the kid got killed. You can blame the shooter yes for fireing the weapon. What if it was a person driving late nite and didn't see the kid. Would it be the drivers fault? Dont be somewhere you shouldnt be. This could happen in the day I understand and in front of a school. But he pushed his luck and luck finally pushed back. Parents need to step up and do the right thing. Its easy to blame whites, cops etc. My parents didt let me out at that time. Only bad things can happen at nite.

Enjoy your fake white world scumbag, aren't you late for a cross burning? People like you always get what is coming to them.

Turns out the shooter was wearing a hood and the 13 year old kid was black. Why in my mind did I suspect that? The guy wearing the hood was obviously looking for his victim. This was no random act. This is one of the biggest reasons that whites want nothing to do with blacks. The never ending violence and mindless acts. Who wants to know or associate with anything to do with that. If these were Eskimpos doing this peole would avoid Eskimos. The black community has to get a grip. Now because of something absurd a 13 year old boy lies in his grave. His mother is all but destroyed, his loved ones are in agony. Over what? Wanting to be a gangster? At 13 youre no more then a little boy, no matter what you think. These children are toally out of control. What they need is stick around the fort fathers to help the mothers raise these fools. They need a father who loves his kids so much he will put one kid through a wall and another through college. Theres your answer.
