I (we) enjoyed our apartment; spacious, clean,
parking and laundry. We both work ..substitute
teacher, and electrician. We are currently paying
almost 1,200 a month. The floors needed sanding
and polishing, and our windows do not move up
down sideways. We have asked for the windows to be
repaired...but to no avail we get few responses.
Currently, an exact apartment (1 bedroom) was
recently rented to an unmarried couple with a 3 month
old, and a small dog. The building was bought and
the apartment has been beautified, absolutely
spruced..for this Section 8 couple to live in. Great
sanded polished floor, ceramic tile, etc.!! Any one
else would have to pay at least 1,400 - 1,500 for
an apartment like this. I think this is absolutely
wrong, unfair for the new owner to accept sec. 8!
Hey, we work. WHY should they get a free-pass, and
an absolute great place to live. I say send them to city housing. I REALLY DO NOT CARE where they
live. Any one who agrees with this has the same mentality..as MANY of welfare, section 8, TRA
classless wasted lumps of flesh!!

I moved to Florida in February, and went apartment shopping. The nicest apartment complex I looked at would not take me. I did a double take while in their office. HUH? I don't qualify?? What do you MEAN?

I went to college, EARNED two degrees, have had a well-paying job since graduation 13+ years ago, and you won't rent to me? WHAT GIVES?!?!

"You make too much."

HUH?

The agent had to explain Section 8 to me... I'd never heard of such a thing.

People who screw around, have children out of wedlock, don't have an education, and won't get off their backsides and earn a living that will put them in comfortable housing generally do not deserve to be subsidized in this manner by the rest of us. Living in a luxury apartment is not a right, it is a privilege to be EARNED. It makes more sense to sterilize this type of person than to enslave (ENSLAVE!) the rest of us to subsidize bad behavior!

Section8 was designed to help needy families find homes. It does not mean that the person is lazy or uneducated. I am currently I'm school widowed with 4 kids and surely went and applied for section 8 because I needed it. So don't speak about matters that u have limited knowledge of. I'm not lazy uneducated or a waste of skin. Whoever said that people with section 8 should be in public housing can go to hell. Your just mad that section 8 is guaranteed rent and more people are excepting it. Get a life and get over it.

I am glad that I grew up in roach infested housing projects. I am glad that I had the opportunity to stand in line for welfare cheese and free lunches. We didn't live in nice apartment complexes or drive nice cars back then. You got the bare minimum just enough to get by and survive. Fast forward to 2011. Why work? To be like me? Student loans, mortgage, child care expenses, health insurance, property taxes, mortgage, credit card debt. Seriously, if I worked at WalMart a few hours a week, I would qualify for Section 8 in a nice neighborhood, free child care, debt free(no student loans/credit cards),and free medical insurance. I think I am the fool here. No wonder the Section 8 drive nice cars and have plenty of groceries. Maybe we are the ones stupid and they have figured it out.

when you are a slave to the government you dont deserve any more than that.
You people talk about how your ancestors were treated horribly by slave masters, well todays generation on welfare, food stamps, and section 8 live JUST like those of yesterday.EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCE other than you dont have to pick the cotton?

1) slave owners allowed their slaves to live on farms in a substandard home so they would have a sheter over their heads.
today we know that as SECTION 8

2) slave owners fed the slave so they wouldnt starve to death
today we call that food stamps

3)slave owners clothed their slaves so they wouldnt have to walk around naked
today we call that smash and grab and welfare payment to buy clothes

4)slave owners had all the slaves houses bunched together they knew as ROW houses.Today we call that section 8 apartments

5)SLAVE OWNERS gave the slaves some meat and stuff when they slaughtered a cow or hog.Today we call that WIC.FREE MILK AND CHEESE.

6) SLAVE OWNERS knew how to contact their slaves when out in the field by ringing a bell in the yard
Tooday we call that GOVERNMENT CELL PHONE called WIRELESS LINK

7)SLAVE OWNERS took their slaves to town to help assist with the products they needed to buy for the farm.Today we call that RAPID TRANSIT

Think about these and you will see if you are on welfare, food stamps, section 8 rent and get WIC or free milk and cheese, and any other thing you can possibly get that some tax payer somewhere WORKING is paying for, YOU ARE A SLAVE TO THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT and WORKING CITIZEN..

Section 8 should be military barracks. The bare minimum for those who are unwilling to work, I say. Nowhere is it authorized to transfer wealth from one citizen to another. If we subsidize parasites, we will just get MORE parasites.

Fast forward to 2012. Have moved to a different town, and guess what!?!?!? There's Section 8 folks all over the place! They walk around the neighborhood with their ripped jeans, long, unkempt dredlocks, hands in their pockets, moping around doing nothing in the middle of the day (and night). With these folks, we have their problems... drug busts, fights, murder. Driving around with radios blaring... just an inconsiderate mob. Driving property values down and making the community unsafe for the children of those who worked hard to earn and pay for our homes. Folks here are NOT happy with the forced integration of lowlifes with those who've worked hard for years in order to buy a newer/nicer home in what should have been a nice neighborhood that is secure for our children.

Has anyone else noticed how newer neighborhoods are being built that put starter homes among much larger homes with upgrades? Why? Some of the starter homes being filled by Section 8 folks. So now I have the riff raff in with the hard workers who had wanted a nicer lifestyle and the security of a nice neighborhood. Well, maybe they got ONE of those things for the premium paid for their new home...

And, in response to a previous post here, a FAMILY is not made up of unmarried people having children out of wedlock. People who can't exercise self control and responsibility SHOULD bear the burden of their decisions, not force those burdens onto folks who've worked hard for a living and been responsible. We've earned what we have. Folks who can't be responsible should not live as well as folks who've sacrificed and worked hard for years.

So sick of social justice and having someone else's beliefs invading values that have traditionally been held by Americans since our Republic's inception.

ITS SAD HOW PEOPLE COMPLAIN ABOUT THIS OR THAT. WELL NEWSFLASH, NOT ALL SECTION 8 PEOPLE ARE CLASSLESS. YOU PEOPLE BELITTLE OTHERS BUT REMEMBER KARMA IS A B*TCH. JOBS ARE NO LONGER GUARANTEED YOU SHALLOW MINDLESS IDIOTS. I HAVE A GOOD PAYING JOB BEFORE THIS I COULDNT FIND A JOB SO I APPLIED FOR SECTION 8 AND I GOT IT. SECTION 8 GOES ACCORDING TO YOUR SALARY. I HAVE A GOOD PAYING JOB NOW WORKING AT THE POST OFFICE AND GUESS WHAT I STILL KEEP MY VOUCHER BECAUSE LIKE THE GOVERNMENT SAID ITS GOES ACCORDING TO YOUR SALARY. YES SOME PEOPLE ABUSE THE SYSTEM. QUITE UNDERSTANDING. BUT BEFORE YOU SAY YOUR TAXES THIS AND THAT....I TOO PAY TAXES. I WORK FULLTIME, A MOTHER OF 2 LITTLE GIRLS AND I GO TO COLLEGE TO GET MY BACHELORS SO HOW DOES ME HAVING SECTION 8 MAKE ME LAZY?? NO THE FACTS BEFORE YOU PEOPLE TRY TO CRITIQUE OTHERS. ENJOY YOUR JOBS NOW BECAUSE ONE DAY WE MIGHT SEE YOU IN THE WELFARE LINE WAITING FOR YOUR FOOD STAMP CARDS AND HOUSING VOUCHERS. STOP BEING JUDGEMENTAL. HOW WOULD YOU LIKE IF WE SAY OH LOOK AT THAT SPOILED ASS BET HER MOMMY AND DADDY GOT HER THAT HOUSE OR CAR OR WHATEVER? WHEN IN REALITY YOU WORKED HARD ENOUGH TO GET WHAT YOU OWN. DONT ASSUME ABOUT ANYONES LIFE. YOU KNOW WHAT THEY SAY ABOUT MAKE ASSumptions. YOU LOOK LIKE AN ASS AT THE END.

That is sad. Folks in your situation are different from those I think many of the posters on this topic rant about. Why all the anger in your message?

Welfare and section 8 should be for all american citizens. All government assistance programs should be. They should not discriminate.

You are correct. Pretty soon, all American citizens will require welfare and Section 8.
We'll live on government handouts... just like all the illegals our government allows in now.

OK, so these mothers had no choice but to part their legs and have children with worthless men?

Sorry, but I'm not buying it... Folks enter into these situations because of bad choices they have made, and shouldn't live as comfortably as those who have made the right choices. They don't deserve luxury housing, with no obligation to actually earn it.
