Superintendent will retire one year early to save the district money, the teachers' union makes concessions, and at least one highly-paid administrative position will be eliminated. Wow.
"Buglione’s decision to retire a year before his contract ends was in part due to the district’s need for cash, he said. In the current school year, Buglione was paid $179,245 as superintendent."
"When assistant superintendent Ed Yergalonis, who made $162,255 this year, takes over, the district won’t fill his position, Buglione said."
"In May, 23 district teachers got notices that they would be let go, according to business administrator Albert DiGiorgio. Since then, retirements and a concession by the teachers union to contribute more than $400,000 to their health benefits have allowed the district to begin rehiring those marked for unemployment."
