I just had a similar experience with Gadget Express at Newark Liberty International, but perhaps worse. The guy gave me a free camera bag and, since I was in a hurry to make my flight he offered to unpack and stow the gear and paperwork as I re-organized my luggage. I saved the credit card receipt in my wallet and raced off to make my flight. I was in the air before I realized that I he had charged me more than we had agreed upon and that the receipts were conveniently absent. Looking back at the guy's behavior, I realized that I was scammed. Admittedly, I was jetlagged and in a hurry and my guard was down. Since returning home, I've researched the real value of the items I purchased. The vendor blatantly lied about the street value of the macro lens (e.g., he said it valued 399, but would sell it with the camera for the bargain price of 200; I found it on Amazon for 39.99). In addition, he sold me a high speed 32 GB sim card for 120 that costs 25 on the market). My stupidity for thinking that I was at a reputable establishment at an international airport. Caveat emptor and avoid Gadget Express!

Place is a total rip off. No prices on anything. Although my fault, I bought a camera in the store without looking elsewhere first.
"How much is that camera?"
"$429"
??? MSRP is $299.
Don't shop here, it's a scam.

I should add to my earlier message the heaviest weight of the scam: I purchased a Nikon D3200 camera kit. He told me that the price was $750, but my credit card was charged $989. The credit card voucher has another price on it and the receipt/paperwork mysteriously was not included in the camera bag. Again, my fault for being in a hurry and taking down my guard and thinking that I was at a reputable establishment at an international airport instead of the back streets of New York City. Stay away from Gadget Express! I'm a frequent flyer and will be boycotting United and EWR as much as I can until this vendor is gone (United owns Westfield Concession Management that runs the stores at Terminal C).

As per several of the other posts I was ripped off at this store, it was my own fault as I was in a rush for a last minute gift on my way home for Christmas. I should have checked before parting with my cash. The guys in the store were way way too helpful to make a sale, I paid about $150 too much for a camera. I am sure this type of practice is not condoned by corporate hq. It took 3 guys to cash me out and I am sure not all of my cash went in the till.
This rip off was my mistake but please be warned never never ever go into this store.

Sorry to hear that! I am a frequent flyer and go through Newark multiple times each year. The concession services and the better business bureau of NJ has been informed, and each has decided not to act. I've decided to completely avoid purchasing anything at EWR until Gadget Express is shut down. I've informed my colleagues and anyone else who would listen of the same!

Firstly Happy new year. Today I purchased a Samsung camera from a store (Gadget express 1) at Newark international airport. As I was unfamiliar with cameras I knew I wanted a Samsung galaxy 16megapixal camera as advices by a friend who highly recommended your products. I believed this store could offer me the service I wanted as they had a selection of Samsung products. After being told this camera was in fact a 16megapixal camera I was looking for and that $370
price tag was the best deal I paid for the purchase only to notice they had taken $470.78 from my account. Once I questioned this and that the camera seemed over priced and not what we agreed on/wanted I looked online and seen on your website it was $199.99 I went back into the store 10 minutes after purchasing and asked for a refund as I felt mis sold only to be told " they do not expect refunds or exchanges and I need to take this up with the manufacture" which says below on the receipt. I am deeply upset I have been mis sold and although I know this isn't Samsungs issue I have no where else to turn. Surely this isn't the correct way to treat customers and I will be reporting this sort of practice to international treading standards as it is the customers rights if they are unhappy with the product you have up to 30 days to question your purchase. Absolute disgrace and feel like I have just had my bank account raped.

Sami or Albert, the same salesperson with 2 different names, made a nice sleek move. Sold me an iSonic HD9100 LED Projector for USD 799 instead of USD 3000, whereas it sells for roughly 400.
His store will be hearing soon from some people... I offered him a chance to undo his dishonest move, but he chose the other option.
In any case, stay away from this store, although if you are probably reading this it's too late...

I too bought a phone charger that was clearly used a defective. Bought charger got to my hotel room and did not work ..took it back and they refused to exchange or refund. Salesman was extreamly rude and hateful. I am a flight attendant and based in Newark....I plan on letting everyone know not to buy from these sharks. Any positive comments made on this feed was probably an employee

I have never seen so much warning and heads-up for this store at Newark and it is so unfair for the business owner to receive negative comments about the business and their operations. YOU AS THE BUYER CONTROL THE TRANSACTION!! I do not understand why people say that this is a rip-off as they compare the store to walmart or amazon and internet websites which is totally unfair. This is a business that has good employees and friendly staff. I buy my accessories and electronics in this store as I am a regular traveler to Asia and I never had any issues with them. I find their prices competitive and they always ask customers to browse around the terminal for comparison and I like them better as they are very nice and personable too!
I'm not related to any of them or any relatives and just wanted to make this clear out to the public to be fair with the comments.

Total bullshit place. High prices & disgusting attitude.
I really believe in the negative comments by customers bcos I travel around the world & have visited umpteen other gadget shops . This is the worst . The last resort.
Pls close this place down.
BTW the positive comments are by the shop owners themselves.

purchased naztech np2400i5 power case for iphone. stopped working next day. in searching for working phone number for gadget express discovered they had grossly overcharged me for the unit. "Sammy" explained you pay more at airports and that they don't do refunds or exchanges - customers must deal with manufacturers for repairs/replacements. This is a free standing single location and not part of a national chain. BEWARE.

Went into store at Newark for camera connector to my iPad 2, available on line for $5.99.. Assured this one was what I needed and was the bees knees, no price label,$43.87! Took it as I wanted to view my photos on long flight back home to UK. Plugged everything in when settled on flight to read "this accessory is not supported by this iPad".

Need an email address to try to get my money back please.

Sean you must be unique or in on the scam to say this in the face of overwhelming comments to the contrary!

One year on, and I've managed to completely boycott EWR over Gadget Express. The authorities there don't want to do anything about this abusive vendor. Let's of routing options!

I agree with this review. This place is a scam, which is sad because there are other alternatives in the airport.

I left home without my headset so I jumped in to Gadget Express to buy one. I wore them probably 4 times and they fell apart. When I went back in, the previously charming sales guy was defensive and rude. He would in no way honor the warranty, or even entertain replacing the product. It was obvious they were in good shape and had not been abused, but he wouldn't do a thing. Turns out the company is out of business, he was probably trying to dump very expensive product and I was a gullible victim. Brookstone will have my business from now on.
