Elizabeth Board of Education: Rafael Fajardo resigns

Rafael Fajardo resigned from his position on the EBOE at approximately 8:30PM this evening 06/10/2010. A powerpoint presentation depicting his years of service was shown to the packed board meeting attendees. All board members personally addressed him with praise and although they told him to enjoy his retirement years with his family, several of them said he would be called upon for guidance in the future. Da Silva went as far as apologizing to his family in advance for the many phone calls to come.

I just threw up a little bit in my mouth. Just the thought of every board member standing before an audience and trying to out do each other in a public Fajardo-butt-kissing-competiti on is truly nauseating.

While I am glad to see Fajardo leave, they have made it no secret that he will still be the one pulling the strings on his Elizabeth Board of Puppets.

I guess he realized there is no need for the physically demanding tasks of going from function to function, when he can just be the 'brains' behind the operation and focus on other more lucrative ventures instead, while he still has the energy. As for the new consulting role... when you lack any new ideas of your own you would have to consult the veterans that have learned only from experience, like Fajardo and Devine. I respect age and the wisdom that comes with it, but... What a team to follow advice from. A team of young, creative, open-minded, sharp, intelligent and innovative trailblazing firecrackers would leave these fawning followers and their masters in the dust. The team has not been put together yet, and may never be, but they know of each other, and are out there doing more individually than the opposition does together.

leave the man and his family alone. If he is the eperson everyone said he is, why does his family have to be humiliated for it. Leave them in peace.

Fine. I for one will stop for now. But as there are alot of individuals and their families he helped, there are alot who this man and his cronies adversely affected by abusing their position. It is simply the irony of life that by helping their families privately, leaders bring them into the public arena.

For someone whom so many admire and respect, it is puzzling to see only his family come out in his defense.

people base their opinions on what they hear from the majority. They are all erroneous! All this story about Fajardo and his alleged wrongdoings were obviously made up by others to take his political power and influence. This man barely made some money but was always trying to make the district of Elizabeth better.

How did he make Elizabeth better? Was it by giving his sister the $1000+ per week no-show job or was it his wonderful idea back in the 80s to put a dome over Broad St. downtown? He was nothing but another scumbag crooked politician!!
