At least Karen Morehead and her friends like the foolish Mayor Johnson didn't get their way with putting in a series of roundabouts at every intersection on Broadway including two at the top of the freeway exits. They did manage to screw up with the one big one at Highway 61.

The down town roundabout is the best thing for Forest Lake. I'm on 61 every day around 7:45, before the roundabout the lights were backed up past the police station. Now I can get drive without stopping. Now I feel I can stop into the bakery without getting stuck in a long line of cars. What is it with some of you anti-roundabout people... it's like one of them beat you up on the playground when you were younger!!

Tearing down successful businesses is NOT the best thing for Forest Lake. The roundabout does that.

Putting in a traffic pattern the public doesn't wish to drive through diverts traffic away from our business district. The roundabout does that.

The bakery doesn't have parking in front of it anymore! The roundabout does that.

The cafe doesn't have access to handicap parking anymore. The roundabout did that.

98% of the public in Forest Lake when surveyed stated they did not want the roundabout. What is it with you people whom refuse to listen to the public?

FL Guy please show me the document or link the 98% didn't want it.. How about after the fact, I'm sure you can come up with fake numbers also.
Please pull the DOT / police records on accidents for the roundabout... not even close anymore.

Lakes Area Business Association completed the survey. They might be able to provide that information but I do recall it as being true.

An excerpt from the minutes of the 2/26/07 Forest Lake City Council meeting, http://www.ci.forest-lake.mn.us/vertical/Site... :

"John Freed, LABA representative presented a Citizen Survey regarding roundabouts. The survey results indicate that out of 2,000 plus people almost 90% are against the roundabout project. Councilmember Bogotty stated that 40% of the signers were not residents of Forest Lake and he feels the survey did not support the entire Forest Lake population."

Another good resource to look at the minutes. I think Bogotty was wrong in his statement as the survey was sent out to all Forest Lake homes.

Sorry FL Guy, I haven't been on here in awhile, but they are not going to take the roundabout out, so as a community and as a person, we need to move on. What's done is done. No sense beating a dead horse...

I haven't had one problem using it, it's actually kinda fun playing chicken with residents who do not see signage as a part of the road and try to go through it without using them. The signs are there for a reason people so, USE THEM!

Road signs, not just for roundabouts anymore!
