An ancestor of mine, Frank Reevell, emigrated to the U.S.A. on board the Lusitania out of LIverpool in 1908. Ellis Island records his destination as Elizabeth, Colarado. He died in 1929 and is buried in Elizabeth. Has anyone any idea about what could have taken him to Elizabeth in 1908.
Thankyou in anticipation.

Frank was my Nana's (Elizabeth Reevell)brother. He came, as I do, from Middlesbrough.

From talking to relatives & searching records I think Frank went to Elizabeth for a few reasons. First - America was the new world and was seen as 'the land of opportunity and all that. Secondly Franks mum Ann came from an Irish Family the McGrails so moving to a new country had been done and Frank went to stay with Mike McGrail a family member who left Ireland for the USA rather than England. Teesside was a booming industrial area but is was still a hard place to live, Colorado was bigger more open and its easy to see the appeal of it.

I've got a number of documents & photos relating to Frank & the Reevell side of the family. How are you related to the Reevells Mary?

Hiya Steve,

No i dont mind you emailing me, its great to hear . Ive just phoned my mother to find out more

As you know my dad was Ray Reevell from middlesbro , his dad Harold was Franks Brother .

Frank went to America for some reason instead of Harold , in America it was said frank had a ranch , and i believe was in the America armed services as my mother has a photo of his funeral which he had the stars and stripes flag over his coffin .

I would be intrested in anything you know a bout the Reevell family ... if frank was married , had kids etc..

Mcgrail is related some where as it could of been Harodls first wife ? or mother not sure ?

i will email you again when i know some more ,

harold my grandad had 3 sons my dad Raymond, Lawrance (Lol), and Jack .

Hope this helps fell free to get in touch any time , and please keep me updated as it would be nice to know .

Hello Reevells- sorry I've been out of touch a mixture of life getting in the way and getting a new PC and reformatting my family history stuff.

I've got a fair bit of information about assorted Reevells from the North East. So will happily share info as needed. The above info on Frank is accurate to the best of my knowledge. My Reevell connection is via my Paternal Grandmother Elizabeth Reevell b 26/8/1893 in Middlesbrough daughter of Francis Dixon Reevell.

My 3rd Great Grandfather Stephen Reevell ran the Baltic Tavern down at the Quay at Stockton & also the Westmorland on Silver St - going to that area tomorrow so I imagine we are talking about the same Reevell - I'll make a loin to of looking in here more often
