Civil unions signed into law in Colorado

Mar 21, 2013 | Posted by: roboblogger | Full story: The Republic

Civil unions for gay couples got the governor's signature in Colorado on Thursday, punctuating a dramatic turnaround in a state where voters banned same-sex marriage in 2006 and restricted protections for gays two decades ago.

"Separate but equal" is NEVER equal ! THIS SUCKS !

How about we allow black Americans to sit in the middle of the bus, but not the front of the bus ?

Civil unions are the perfect compromise; it stops rewriting marriage law for everyone and satisfies the sexual predilection of a tiny minority.

Hardly, since civil unions are not recognized by the federal government, do not cross state borders, and do not offer all of the same protections that marriage does.

It is simply another starting point for the continued good fight for marriage.

And, really, why in the world are you thinking about other people's sexual predilections when you hear about marriage?

Geesh. You must be a barrel of laughs at weddings.

Wow, this has got to be a very tough time to be Scalia and the other cavemen on the Supreme Court.

America and the world is watching to see if they evolve in the next few months. LOL

Either way, expect Democrats to win big in the midterm elections. Republicans are really out of touch with the voters on all issues.

Rand Paul advocates a total ban on abortion.

In Michigan, Republicans are proposing legislation to allow doctors to refuse care for anything they find bothers their conscience, like birth control.

Well, after secretly pushing Right to Work for Less through, We the People will definitely be voting in the Mid Term elections much more energized than usual.

The GOP needs to learn a thing or two about community organizing from the Commander in Chief.

You mean abolish the word "marriage" in the law and replace it with "civil union" for all and let people do whatever they want in their pedophile-enabling church? That could work, as long as everyone has the same rights under the law.

Wills are recognized in every state; same sex couples have the same right as traditionally married couples in choosing who inherits. Living wills and medical powers of attorney are recognized in every state; same sex couples have the same rights as traditionally married couples deciding who visits in hospitals.

Same sex marriage is bad because it takes away choice and forces gay couples into the mold of heterosexual marriage. If your partner doesn't leave his fortune to you; maybe that's telling you something about your relationship instead of about marriage law.

Wills & power of attorney can be challenged in court by anti-gay relatives, plus inheritence taxes are signficantly different for non-married couples.

Marriage offer a CHOICE for same-sex couples; no one can be forced ot marry.

Denying that choice only to same-sex couples is discrimination.

O.K., they have Civil Unions in CO. Now it's time to file the first lawsuit challenging its' equality issues, of which there are many. This is if the SCOTUS doesn't fix the problem in the meantime.

By pro-gay relatives too and for good reasons. Or does WTS gays hurt by coercion and fraud without legal recourse?

As they should be; traditionally married couples bring a benefit to government that same sex couple's can't provide, the next generation of taxpayers. Our legislatures enacted that the tax code, that's the people to petition if you believe its unfair.

Let's all reform, reduce and simplify taxes instead of rewriting marriage laws for everyone.

Marriage is a choice, homosexuality isn't.

Marriage isn't for everyone. There's discrimination against polygamy and incest marriage that makes those parties felons but no such law exists for homosexual cohabitation in any state.
