I was not aware I had to make an HOA payment when I purchased my Blythewwood home. I ended up owing the HOA $378.00. The law firm represnting the HOA refused to take anything less than $2,400.00 for the $378.00 debt. We went to court during the interim of waiting for the Judge to make a decision, the law firm tried to sell my house without notifying me. They had a buyer but the judge stopped them from selling my home and the buyer backed out. This HOA is a scam and a rip off has anyone else faced this dilemma?

Yes this happened to me about 3 yrs ago. I ended up paying $4500.00 in atty fees and filing fees. The HOA did not won't to work with me. Every atty office I called claim to not no the law or how the HOA works. I was referred back to one attys office the same office who signed the documents I was served. My deadline was approaching fast so I just paid the money. The following January dues were due again well I was going to pay up for the yr February...I thought that as long as the bill was paid in the first quarter I shouldn't have a problem....I was wrong. Once again $82.50 was turn into $545.00 for the first quarter. Which could have been paid the year and half of the next yr.
