You are wrong as well.. Being gay is not a learned behavior. You are born gay. Being feminine or masculine is probably learned but not being gay

I can say that Cheif Brown is a honest man and will do his best to put Rusty where he belongs. His family "Spitzer" should disown the sorry peice of garbage. But, with the "Spitzer money" they can buy him a great attorney. I pray Rusty Spitzer gets all the law allows. I HATE CHILD RAPIST!!!!
Take a good look at the picture! You should be sure that you know what you're talking about, before trying to inflame the public with your mis-infomation. This Rusty Spitzer has never been divorced. His one and only wife is still by his side. If you have nothing better to do than post rash comments, at least limit yourself to articles that you know something about.

Well, once again I can say my parents were dead on. They never let me join the boy scouts or any organized groups like that.
They said only "wierdo's" are in those things. Being a kid of 10 or so they figured I wouldn't know what a sexual predator was so they used that term. I was upset for a while but got over it.
All I can say is "Thanks Mom and Dad, you may have saved me from being a victim."

The facts in the Rusty Spitzer news article are not totaly true and what happened to this young boy could have been avoided.

About 5 years ago my sons were scouts with Troop 316, my wife and I were leaders. We ( my son, wife and I)filed a complaint with the local scout council against Rusty Spitzer for inapropriate conduct and comments which occured on at least one troop campout. We were interviewed by the then council Exec. Mike Miller (Larry Brown was not the Exec. at the time)but nothing was done and Rusty was allowed to continue as a scout leader. The information about the complaint was disclosed to The Troops leadership and my sons, wife and I were thrown out of the Troop as well as St. John's church and banned from church property. To all of Troop 316 Leadership and the Church leaders at the time you are just as guilty as Rusty for what happened to this child. You could have prevented this if you had only listened and not let the dollars and politics influence your decision.
To the parents of scouts and future scouts BSA's policy of two deep leadership does work to protect your children as long as it's followed, but you as a parent have the responsability to monitor what goes on and step up to be the second leader when necessary and don't be afraid to speak up.
To Mike Miller and St. John's church we are waiting for a public apology to the scout that was molested and to my family.

OUCH! Is there not a way that you could have went above them and contacted someone else with your complaint? I'm not judging you, only asking a question. Just wanted to throw that in there, I know how text don't show emoitions!

What occured was not a matter for the police, and when the organization in power would not listen there was no where else to go.

It wasn't that long ago that the B.S.A. got in trouble because they did not want homosexuals to be Scout Leaders. Of course we have to be "politically correct" and not hurt anyone's feelings. To heck with the safety of the children.
I realize you don't have to be a Homo. to be a child molester but he went after boys NOT girls.
Homosexuals get married as a cover, so just because he was married that doesn't mean he was Hetero.

there has been much controversy over the gay issue are people born gay or arent they. In nature gay creatures won't reproduce and thus end the cycle. So with so many gays in the world I find it hard to belive that gay people most of them were born that way. Then logicaly they need to stop and go straight. BUT if in fact all gays are born that way then it should be concidered a birth defect and we should be looking for a cure.

"Not a matter for the police" because your complaint only came AFTER you were asked to leave and not come back! Your complaint was taken seriously, fully investigated by the Council and the Church and deemed to be mere retaliation.

FK and KK, it was just a matter of time before you had to chime in. But then again that's what you do best, stir the pot. Itís not enough for you to have personally wrecked two very healthy scouting units (311 and 316), now you want to try to finish the job on this one.

Did anyone complain about YOU when you were the SM and physically slapped your son on the head at a scouting event? How about the verbal abuse YOU doled out regularly? How about the way YOU yelled at and belittled the boys who couldn't attend or keep up? The constant threats to quit and fold the unit if you didn't get your way? How about the way YOU intentionally put the boys through the most physically demanding activities you could dream up because it was "good for them?" Or YOUR failed attempt to clean out the unit's bank accounts AFTER you were finally dismissed?

Did YOU always have 2 deep leadership? NO! because you ran members and leaders off left and right with your antics and negativity (both of you!)

I'm not a member of 316 anymore but have friends there. I've watched them pick up the shattered pieces YOU left behind and build an impressive CS and BS program. They are stunned and heart-broken about this news, but they are determined to do what leaders do, lead through adversity and be the better for it, something neither of you know a thing about.

There is only one person responsible for this incident, and his initials are RS! Your comments are despicable, and both of you know better! Shame on you!

Wow! I am so impressed with the individuals who are involved in the Lugoff Boy Scout community. Reading all of this and seeing all the adults and their public mudslinging, I am very glad I don't have a son.

In my opinion you folks all need to be removed from scouting.

Don't jump to conclisions about the leaders here. FK is a FORMER leader who was asked to leave for good reason. He's showing his stripes again, we've seen it before.

I've been in and out of Scouting for years, and you'd be appalled at the way some adults behave. But then again have you ever been to a Little League game and seen an over-zealous parent? Same thing here.

316 is an impressive unit with terrific leaders and wonderful families. Too bad you won't get the chance to watch the way they pull through this, its sure to be an inspiration. Pray for them, they need it!

Thundercat: Learn to be Gay?? Was there a Merit Badge for that??? You are an uneducated idiot....just looking for something to say.
You dont "learn" to be gay, you learn to be a closed minded hateful person just needing something to write. Keep your negative opinions out of Scouting, your doing them a favor.....
My son and Husband are active members in Scouting, and the two deep leadership rule is there just for reasons like this, to protect the Scouts, as well as the leaders. But this man took advantage of this families situation, by gaining their trust first. This is why it is very important to always talk to your kids about what is going on in their lives, and to encourage them to tell you anytime they are made to feel uncomfortable by someone else, regardless of who that someone else may be. Gee, priests, teachers, and now Scout Leaders.......what a very sad world we live in who is left for our kids to trust???
