I live in Fishers, Indiana and on my way home just right outside my neighborhood was a pack for coyotes.... Kinda scares me that they are so close to home. Do they attack humans?

Coyotes don't come out much in the day, they're nocturnal. You'll see them around duck or dawn sometimes, but the reality is that they are extremely skittish around people or any animal close tot heir size or larger. They have very thick, puffy fur so they actually look a lot bigger than they are. If you have a small rat-like dog you need to watch it when you let it out. If you have a medium or a large dog I wouldn't worry, the coyotes won't come near it.

Damn suburban yuppies... Do a little reading/research before you get all upset about some wildlife in "your" area.

There are a lot of coyotes around here. One person in Naperville had chickens that the coyotes were constantly after and they had to put up an electric fence to keep them out. A coyote was at the bus stop with the kids. It was begging for food, and it definitely was a coyote, not a dog or a mix. I had to chase it away. It was not all that scared of humans. It was very mangy. They eat the rabbits in the neighborhood until you can't find a rabbit. Once the rabbits and any other animal that is easy to catch are gone, it will go after pets. At least three coyotes were in my yard one night howling and I heard them eat my neighbors cat. I also know of a small dog that 3 coyotes went after that was severely injured, but got away and had to have hundreds of stitches. They found a very sick coyote near us, near death, and it was sent to the wildlife center in Glen Ellyn. It had mange and was released to the wild after treatment.

If I was gong to exaggerate I would have said there were a dozen coyotes in my backyard and that I had to wrestle a salami on rye away from one of them at the bus stop.
Here is one of the critters. Some of the stories about other animals are interesting as well. You can go there and look at some of the animals they rescued around here, it's kind of like a small zoo...and it's FREE. Happy New Year!

Do not shoot that coyote, he owes us a lot of money. He claims that he was going to capture a large blue bird and that the Smithsonian would pay millions for it. We extended him credit on that proposal.
Our patients has worn thin and we tried to seize his assets but he listed Wrigley Field as an address. No doubt he figured to blend in with the other losers there.

Just last week I was walking my two Shelties along Toastmaster Dr and I had a scary encounter with a very aggressive coyote. It was early morning and this bugger followed me pretty much till I got home safely. Needless to say my dogs wouldn't stop barking at it and in turn the coyote was "barking" back in an awful way.

It is too funny that you would say that. I live on clover hill ln and take walks at night right on toastmaster. I loop back behind the factory and on my way back a pack of them followed me for about five minutes. This happened on tuesday.

I live in Bartlett,IL., and have seen many a coyote just prancing down the sidewalk in my residential neighborhood. Don't think they would not attack an adult, because they will. Just as a dog would if their mood is right. They took care of them in the old west when they got pesky and that's what we should do.

ddm,how would you know about this area? It says you're from Springfield. I believe these people because I live further into the city than they do, and not by any woods, and I have seen 2 in my neighborhood,(noooo, not dogs!) one of them killing my dog several years ago. Another one about 2 blocks over chasing a small dog. My husband works 7 miles further in and has been spooked by COYOTES while he was riding his bike on the way to work. You need the exageration of the day award since you obviously don't know what you are talking about.
