There's something inately wrong with being "free pending appeal". If you were convicted, you should be "in jail pending appeal". The names Makekau and Rodrigues come to mind.

The judge ordered a drug screening of this 62 year old woman. Apparently she showed no remorse during sentencing. 18 months in the calaboose is not that much fun for her so her attorneys is going to appeal. What gets me is she was ordered to repay only $5,000 and the insurance will cover the rest She moved her butt outa Kauai and now lives on Oahu. If you post bail on Kauai apparently you still can move ?? Thats the problem with drugs if this is the reason she did what she did. Drugs no boundaries including age , religion. or any other things that you would think that affiliation would prevent this kind of crime. Drugs are the scourge of mankind.

It would appear that Kauai's jurist Circuit Judge Randal G.B. Valenciano is just as feeble a jurist as those we have on Oahu. 18 months and 5 years probation on a crime which carries a 10 year prison term. SHAME!

I don't think probation should have been given in this case. She should be sentenced to the maximum amount. further she should have been thrown in jail immediately. This will serve as an example for the other individuals who are currently skiming money away from their employers.

This thing goes on but there are many more guilty ones out in the public. Catch em all and lock em up. But the system just keeps letting the criminal get off easily.

I think the judge should be thrown in jail along side the culprit. They are both guilty of not performing their job. simple as that.

sorry Kimo..99.99% of non-profits are honest. So were these catholic churches. They are victims of one bad employee. Don't blame the sector.
