I think it's quite pathetic...not that someone was able to hack into a school system to change some grades, people hack into different types of computer systems more often than we think. It's the fact that the school does not even have the organization to have back up information for their students, like their grades. What happened to teachers having grade books? Students have to work hard enough for a class when it comes to homework, quizes, exams, papers, projects, etc. Can't a teacher (let alone an entire school) take a couple extra minutes to write it down so they can be responsible for the grades they give to their students instead of having their students hand in the homework twice?

Well, if any of these kids had a class in computers I think giving themselves an A in it is perfectly fair. Obviously they know more about computers and computer security than their teachers.

I think it was an IBM PC jr. with 128k and a Radio Shack external modem. standard issue at NORAD in those days.

the guy that hacked is my little brothers best friend. He is honestly the nicest kid in the world who made a big mistake. several other kids got caught in the school but only he got punished that severely.

You know, I understand punishing the kid because he did something wrong, but I think in cases like this, the administrators/school/etc. thinks that by being harder on the kid it will make up for their own stupidity.

Apparently the school files weren't very secure for a student to hack into it.

Ok, fine, suspend the kid for a few weeks, maybe for the rest of the year, but when he comes back thank him for pointing out the flaws in their security and ask him for tips on making it more secure.

Wouldn't it be obvious on who is hacking by looking at whose grades where changed?

Congrats on this hacking achievement, I still remember when grades where merely locked away in large filing cabinets guarded my ugly mean secretaries who hated kids.

There's a job waiting for them at the
White House, Defense Dept, CIA, FBI, NSA, and of course the Homeland SS, etc...

So this is something new...it proves that there are some good teachers out there and smart students to suck up the knowledge..

Congratulations folks...YOU HAVE A JOB OUT THERE..get in that resume...

Daily Horoscope for December 5

Leo

Your sunny temperament has returned, dear Leo, as the Sun and Venus dance in Sagittarius and the marvellous Moon shines in your sign. Whatever the day has to offer, it should bring you some pleasure and laughter, so arrange something nice if you don't have anything planned. Your power to charm is considerable right now and it will make you a big hit with whoever gets the full force of it. But don't give someone the come-on if you don't mean it.
