Man wrongly ends up on sex offender list

Scott Ibarra had no idea he was wrongly listed as a sex offender until a pal pointed it out.

Well from knowing him in highschool as a senior always trying to date freshmen and hanging out with them. I would not trust him around anybody I know.

That sounds like every highschool boy that I remember. Wasn't his sister younger as well as her friends? If you went to Providence, you know that everyone knew everybody. Funny to see alumni from Providence supporting Scott on Facebook and other networking sites. You must not have known Scott, but someone who thinks they know Scott!

I did know him and went to school with him. Was creepy back then also.

If you read the story, the situation just didn't pop out of thin air. Albeit the case was a military charge he was cleared of, and the Shorewood PD's reporting it is interesting (at best).

From the Herold News: "In 1997, while he was serving in the Navy, a court martial found Ibarra guilty of rape and sentenced him to four years in prison. A female acquaintance had accused Ibarra of drugging and sexually assaulting her. Ibarra maintained the sex was consensual. Two years and six months into his sentence, the Navy-Marine Corps Court of Criminal Appeals overturned the conviction."

IN ANY CASE, there is a path of understanding here, though given it's by and large in error. It's certainly not just some average JOE that popped up randomly on the sex offender list.

Keep in mind there are opponents to this list. The look for examples where the list has failed the community. The list is a valuable resource for parents and families and hopefully it won't be overturned anytime soon.

Knowing him for a short time before this happened to him in the military, I did not trust him. He did not go for the strong independent girls, funny to see that several of his girl friends are from Hooters (or at least he was trying to pick them up). That should say something right there! I have also heard through friends that he has several Orders Of Protection against him for bothering his x-wife. Even while being newly married (met her at Hooters from what I hear) he still has a Order against him for harassing his x-wife. I can say this because I know people he knows(his own brother does not talk to him any more)....but I want NOTHING TO DO WITH HIM. BOO HOO, TAKE SOME RESPONSE ABILITY FOR A CHANGE!!!!!
