Lots of reasons....primarily better testing, ie we can find it now.....and mass production. Much like the peanut problem Milk is also inspected by state inspectors who loose their job if the plant they inspect gets shut down...Kind of hard to shut it down isn't it.....

The question was "why so many"/ Not why Malto Meal. |

The most recent cases are JBS Swift (Beef) and the Nestle Toll House Cookies. Both are domestic concerns. I still don't get your condemnation of the globalization in regard to food. I think the problem lies with the inspection process and manufacturing locally. |
|||
Nestle is a swiss based company and the largest food company in the world. Swift has been traded, bought and sold so many times it's hard to know who owns them right now. Last I heard they were owned by "cartel" company Con Agra. The promotion of Free trade and globalization is the "axiomatic" cause of food borne illness. Y'all are so stupid, you dont wish to look at the real problems plaging this country. |

I looked for clarification and you respond with insults. That's pretty typical of you. What's your big issue A$$ole? |

1 You got clarification. I wouldnt worry about "your feelings getting hurt". I would worry that youre going to get poisoned by the "food cartels". Or better yet, they might decide to starve you to death. PS- where did the non fat dry milk come from? New Zealand? You know they import alot of dairy ingredients from all over the world. That's globalization and free trade. That's death. |

My feelings aren't hurt, I just don't like blowhards spewing cruddy insults. What are we going to do this winter when produce, particularly fruit, is imported as it has been for a coupla hundred years or so? I still feel that the one responsible for poisoning me is the one who packaged the product and sent it to market. It is their job to inspect food products. If contaminated food gets through, I'm not chasing down some corporate entity in a corporate structure, I want the guy who bagged the poisoned product. |
|||
You still don't know what you're talking about. American independent farmers are nearly extinct. The reason you're getting so many food borne illness is because of the globalization and free trade policies. But you go after the guy that bagged your salad. Now that's impotent, just like your opinion. |

From what I have read about globalization, we are responsible for as many of the bad effects as other countries are. We have paid dearly in the past for isolationist policies, why would we repeat the same mistakes? How many names do you have, by the way? |

All I have heard from you is insistant repeatings of "Globalization causes foodborne illness" when I ask for clarification you merely repeat the statement with an insult. Turn the crank for me and give me some data, or shut up. |

You mean in the age of "google" you couldnt think to search the web?
http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/474667 When everything is unregulated (like the recent financial system that collapsed) you find things dont function as they were intended to function. Unregulated food production, grown and distributed based on "lowest cost" will lead to disasters. It also bankrupts American farmers who today cannot even get "cost of production" prices for their production thanks to this British globalized food system. You might want to "import" a brain, you need one badly. |

Pretty dated stuff(2004) but I'll grant you that their is a slim possibility of infection. It looks like we have the same issues with California, Florida and Texas fruits though, so you better add those to your list of taboo places in your ever shrinking world. Meanwhile please accept these mangoes. Maybe they will help your rotten disposition. |

Considering "Free Trade" and Globalization goes back to the British East India Company (even earlier) it's funny you think 2004 is dated. American's don't know their history. This country was consituted in opposition to Free Trade and Globalization. And that goes back to 1776. |
