I knew the guy who was killed, he was always a good kid as a young man. But he recently began heading down the wrong path. The saying live by the gun, die by the gun never seems to fail. The only thing crime pays for is a funeral or state penitentiary money. I feel sorry for his family, they are far from the thuggish type like their wanna be son.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...I'm not saying it's the only factor but that cultural rot called gangsta rap which glorifies punks and thugs and gangs just as it condones every uncivil and criminal act up to and including murder is a horrible message for impressionable young people. The police are finding kids as young as 12 and 13 carrying guns and not afraid to use them at the slightest provocation, at least in part because they are trying to emulate their thug hip hop idols. If anybody doesn't think all of us, young people in particular, aren't highly influenced by pop culture they need to think again! All the violence in the movies and TV and video games that are nothing more than murder simulators do not help the situation. A sick society produces sick people and I feel for the parents who do their very best in raising children only to have them go down the wrong road due to negative influences completely outside of their control.

I know the person who was caught. He too is not from a family that is thugish. He is a fine young man who made a mistake. I ach for him because I know the man he is, is going to be in pain for awhile over the death of his friend. I was sickened with sadness when I heard what happened. These young men have their whole lives ahead of them. I agree with Bubba about gangsta rap which glorifies punks and thugs and gangs just as it condones every uncivil and criminal act up to and including murder is a horrible message for impressionable young people. Let us hope that the powers in charge will come to their senses and outlaw anything that encourages violence!!! We are going to lose our kids if we don't...our precious kids...

I am sick with grief! This kid was like one of my own! Known him all of his life. And like the other comments above, he came from a loving, God inspired, progressive home. How is it that our kids get "caught up"? Who knows the real story here? In the final analysis, a young man has lost his life and nothing will change that. Perhaps his ultimate price will inspire other young men and women to think about their choices because the end result is something that cannot be undone. Right or wrong, we all make mistakes, and he did not deserve to die! Let justice prevail! My heart goes out to his mother, father, sisters, brother and all of his extended family.

I have to disagree with the sentiment that "he did not deserve to die". Carjacking is an extremely serious crime. So is running from the police with reckless driving, endangering the life of everyone on the highway. When you follow that with shooting at the police...sorry but yeah you deserve to die! He made his choices (all bad, especially the last one!) and paid the ultimate price. It's indeed a tragedy for his family and I can sympathize with their loss but there is nobody else to blame but this young criminal who was quite willing to murder the police if he had the opportunity! This was far more than a simple "mistake"!

Everyone has their own opinion. But before you post something like this, you should know facts from fiction...You have no idea of what happened only what has been reported. I sincerely hope that you never experience anything like this...Cause i will be the first one to say...IT WAS YOUR FAULT!

The evidence is pretty damn clear on what transpired here! I suppose you are saying this punk didn't hijack a car, didn't run from the police and didn't start shooting at cops even though his recently fired weapon was recovered with him at the scene. I most probably know a lot more of what happened than you do but you aren't interested in evidence or facts, only in trying to shift the blame from a criminal friend of yours to the police. He was just a good little boy who made a small mistake wasn't he? Uh huh! I don't intend on becoming a gun toting punk criminal but if I ever do and there is a similar amount of evidence against me go ahead and say IT WAS MY FAULT because you probably will be right! Meanwhile keep on being delusional about this case!

I disagree with you maybe you don't have a son a nephew or a brother cause it's nothing to you that a young child has lost his life. But for you to be the judge of that it's not your place neither the officer so please think next time before you make yourself look stupid.and yes the officer's has a hard job but they should take a job that's suppose to safe live's and there taking to many live's that could have been prevented with better training than just shot to kill. And if your family member stole that car how would you feel

You can disagree all you want, that's your right! I happen to have all three (son, nephew and brother). They were raised well and I don't expect to see them involved in any barbaric criminal activity such as this. If such a thing did happen I would hope that I would not be blinded by the facts and delusional as some of the supporters of this criminal clearly are. Stealing a car is one thing (extremely serious but not a capital offense) but when you get in a gun battle with police you frankly deserve to die. You're trying to kill the people that are protecting the rest of us. Just what would you do if you were a cop? Take a chance of being killed by some punk for just doing your job? We all make decisions in life and when you do something as dangerous and irresponsible and stupid as this you frankly deserve to be taken away in a body bag!

I have lost my mind??? You don't see me stealing a car, get involved in a car chase and gun battle with the police like some people I've heard of! You also don't see me defending thug punks who do irresponsible and stupid things like that. God and Jesus have nothing to do with this situation! The facts and evidence are quite clear and we all have a right to state our opinions here. Keep on being delusional and ignorant if you choose though. That's certainly your right. God bless you!

Daily Horoscope for December 15

Taurus

Are you in listening mode today? Let's hope so because someone wants to bend your ear and they're hoping that you can spare the time and energy for them. Although your first instincts may tell you to give them plenty of advice, try to stop yourself volunteering it unless it's asked for. Even then, you may get the sense that you're really being asked to listen, not talk.
