I guess having children absolves you from the things you did to others when you were alive.

Freddy I wish we could meet somewhere. You would have a different outlook on life.I GUARANTEE!!! I would show you the way that someone should have shown you a long time ago...But I already know what kind of person you already are. A very little one that would never have the GUTS to meet up with someone face to face...

I made my comment on 10/31 feeling I needed to provide a little reality, given my knowledge of the business transactions and my time spent with Dick. Since that first week there have been many worthwhile comments, unfortuanity there have been a few that were not only hurtful but written by "people" without any real knowledge of the business or the person. At this point I would suggest we move forward and stop responding to this Freddie guy who seems to have made this his life.

Tori, Buck, and Travis...I would like to share some advice, before I do, I would like to say that your father was a good man. In his presence, he made you feel as if you were his only friend; he was quick to encourage, great at sharing his experiences, and loved to laugh out loud. Anyone who knew him is a better person because of your father's influence in their lives. As for's all about relationships...and, never forget to tell people you love and appreciate them while they are with alive...your father taught you well...God Bless and my prayers are with you...

you have a lot of nerve to make this kind of accusation about my father from an anonymous screen name. i hope your name is tainted by cowardly fools such as yourself when your time comes.

Enough is enough. All of you saying things about my father should think about where you are posting your thoughts. I have two younger brothers who could read this one day. My father spent his whole life trying to do the best for his family, his friends, and the community. The real estate market fell in the 1980s. It was a terrible tragedy for many people. I feel for the people who lost money in investments that failed but I can personally promise anyone out there that my father did not enter into any business deals with the idea that he was going to "rip someone off." I am saddened to the bones at my father's sudden passing and even more saddened by the fact that people would use this tragedy to slander him on an online blog. I would not wish anyone's children to have to read awful things about their parents on a blog...and if all of you would think twice you would realize that what you are doing is wrong. As to those of you who continuously reply with mean, if not evil comments, I would ask you to spend the time that you have used bad mouthing my father to do something constructive that would help others and the community. Now please stop and let his memory live on in the people that love him. The past is past...I don't want to see anymore comments demeaning his character. None of you have anything against me, my mother, or my young brothers. I can promise you my father raised children who would never get online and bad mouth the dead. STOP.
I am sorry for your loss.

hey buddy from norwalk. you don't know the man you're talking about and it's rude to speak of the dead. but if you really have something to say about him how about you grow a pair and say it to someone's face and not online like a punk who can't man up to what he has to say. you have no spine you insignificant piece of waste!

he sounds like a self-centered social predator who was only "generous" to feed his own deluded self image. I don't know why you're glazing over and explaining away his lack of ethics unless you actually think that's "business".
From the son of the man you insult, you have no idea what you're talking about. My father knew how to love like no other, and I saw him reach out to help others time and time again in ways that went unseen and for people he didn't expect anything back from. He coached my sports teams when I was young, and he would make a point of selecting kids who struggled at tryouts or seemed troubled in some way. I remember long talks in our back yard about how we could make the experience "magical" and transformative for the kid.
My friend in high school lived a two hour bus ride from campus and he was struggling with managing his schoolwork and baseball practices. My father, without hesitation, offered to house and feed my friend any night he wanted to stay over so he could get his work done.
Richard Traweek raised over a million dollars for the Richstone Family Center and had a great time doing it.
My father was an honest man. He was an assertive businessman who believed in what he did. He explained his financial downfall to me on a number of occasions, and it is clear that he did not intend for the collateral damage that was caused. Sometimes deals go sour, and I know there are people out there who want to use my father as the scapegoat in this blame game, but the fact of the matter is there are risks in investment. My father felt the burden of that financial crash for the rest of his life. For those who want to discuss his Bel-Air membership, he cut back his membership drastically and then eventually terminated it. Many of his business connections that allowed him to continue working were through Bel-Air, so it was an investment equally as much as it was a luxury.
Richard Traweek was a wonderful, whole-hearted man who cared enough to positively affect anyone he came into contact with. If there was something he could do to help, he would try his best. I'm sorry to those of you who feel my father let you down, but I can tell you it wasn't out of ill will. There was no scheme, because no one came out on top of that crisis.
Wills, I highly recommend you check yourself and learn a sense of respect. I understand the predisposition toward "business," but there are other sides to the story. This is a man you did not know, and he doesn't deserve your negativity, especially when he isn't here to speak for himself. And if you're going to express such a level of ignorance, at least have the courage to sign your full name to it.
-Buck Traweek
