Everyone needs to boycott WalMart once it arrives in Torrance.... it is a horrible company without any morality at all!

They recently fired an employee for using medical marijuana for his terminal cancer. This was a highly accredited employee whom had earned employee honors for several years. He is dying from cancer, yet still working. He never used marijuana during his job, only at home to relieve his pain from chemotherapy and radiation treatments. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME on this company. BOYCOTT IT, NEVER BUY A THING FROM THIS COMPANY.

Wow, so I can now kiss every other major shop in that plaza goodbye. Good-bye Toys R Us, FYE, Staples, and PetsMart... Walmart will no doubtedly kill you all.

Thanks for bringing jobs perhaps equal to the amount you will be destroying.

How can the customer response from the one on 190th be so positive? The shoppers have made the place a dump! Rude, unattentive, unorganized, overcrowded mess.

PS... I HATE WALMART WITH A PASSION!!!! Nobody in their right mind should sacrafice shopping other places to save perhaps .05 on something. NOT WORTH IT PEOPLE.

"It's really important we bring new businesses to the city of Torrance."
It should be restated as "it's really important to burn all the small businesses in the city of Torrance"

I'm pretty sure that response from the store on 190th is mostly from Harbor Gateway/Gardena residents. And I wouldn't be surprised the so-called residents who want WalMart probably live in North Torrance!

Best thing to happen in Torrance for a long time...Wish they would take over the whole center like when the original store was built for a Penney's subsidiary, The Treasury. It had groceries too! Sam's Club in Torrance hasn't had employee problems...So lets move on , create jobs and tax revenues and quit trying to be something we aren't... like a special charter school in the Riviera...

Amazing how negative the whole world seems to be. There are corporations who will not hire people who smoke. Guess what, they are a private business and can conduct their business how they want. If you don't like it, then don't go and shop there.
I'm not a supporter of medical marijuana and the story about the employee who has cancer is very sad, but there are other ways to handle their situation without weed. Sorry, I know all the potheads will mark me with negative remarks, but again, its my opinion only. I guess if I support marijuana use it would be ok!
Secondly, I don't mind Walmart coming to Torrance, but unfortunately it will be staffed by ghetto-rats who will do nothing but display their typical rude attitudes, worry more about their nails and texting than providing a quality place to shop! That would be my main reason for not going there!
Don't think I'm correct, go to the one on 190th! You'd think they were giving away welfare cheese by the looks of the place! Horrible. But again, since I don't like it, I don't shop there, easy enough. So stop your whining and don't shop there if you have issues with the company.

That is horrible! Wal Mart should not be in the 90505. If it's too small of a space they should just choose a more appropriate location that could handle the traffic and parking such as: The Galleria (Expo Store). They need to be in the 90504/90278!

I will definitely be boycotting. Torrance/Beach Cities are known for small businesses and this will ruin all of them. This is very disappointing.

Unions need to wake up. Union run stores like Ralphs cannot continue to gouge consumers now there will be a new sheriff in town.

Glad to hear WM is coming.

I have always boycotted Walmart, and I always will, but since everyone wants more revenue in Torrance, better be ready to deal with the clientele that will be shopping there. Harbor Gateway, Compton, etc. residents have cars and they will go wherever there is a Walmart, especially a new one. Kiss your community goodbye. I had friends that owned homes in the Baldwin Hills area of Los Angeles. Afer the Walmart came in, people that were not from the area came there by the 1000's, by bus, by overloaded vans, by foot. The holidays were a nightmare (they have since sold their home and left the state). Congestion, noise, foul language, even shootings. It's happened before; it will happen again. Can't believe the elected officials of Torrance and do no better than this. Shame on them!

Horrible news. This will be a blight on Torrance. Boycott it all you want but the undesirable elements will drive in from all over to keep it alive. Really terrible news.

Yea! Welcome to the neighborhood Walmart.

Nice to see that MacMall open up down the street as well.

Wonder what kind of business can move into an empty car dealership?

Oh great just when Torrance needs a life line they throw it an anchor. How exactly is this supposed to help the blighted problem?

Obama can't fix everything.

Please tell me it's an April Fool's joke.

That Kmart in "Torrance Promenade" once known as Old Town Mall in the days is an eyesore enough. But another ghetto anchor store coming to Torrance? Enough's enough.
