Trying to do good for the holiday season is difficult

It is never easy asking for assistance. I feel like it is even harder during the holidays. I was trying to make it a lot easier for some folks this year but have hit roadblocks the whole way. Last year, we went to DHS to see if we would be able to "adopt" a family for the holiday. Providing them with a dinner and a few gifts. They said give us a donation. I hate being a skeptic, but where would the money really go. I understand the whole privacy thing, but I just really wanted to help. So this year after hearing a story on the news. Our Family decided to go up to the local Wal-Mart and assist a few people by trying to pay off their remaining balance on their layaway. We were turned away. Seems like people are skeptical of our intentions. They also don't want to put out any extra effort to help us help others. It is really discouraging this time of year.
