Ysleta has been in great shape for the past 5 years and ever since HM has left it seems to be going down hill. Maybe the board should try to get him back!!!! I'm not a secretary either! Just someone who cares about students and what's best for them!!!!

Even if he was effective and I place a big IF, he no longer is with the baggage that goes along with reputation and name. When like this happens no stone is left unturned and lot more comes to surface and even the good gets put aside and only the bad reported. But let's face it, would El Paso really want him back? His effectiveness as a leader is now lost and it will be long time, if ever, that he ever gets another opportunity like he had. A lot of this was his own doing. Once you mess up like this, nobody wants to touch you unless it is in a much smaller place.

The AISD needs to concentrate on getting the wheels back on the bus going forward, not if HM lives happily ever after. I'm sure the Tarrant County DA is fully aware of any laws HM broke & I wouldn't put it past them to go after ol'Hector.
Since the 2nd month of HM tenure as Super, he was advised by both AISD attorney and his own personal counsel, to stop the outside speaking engagements. HM chose to ignore these warnings, then he had the nerve in April to request his contract be renegotiated to compensate him for lost revenue he earned as a motivational speaker.
I applaud the AISD Trustee's for carrying out the Barney Fife logic of "Nipping it in the Bud" by very cautiously investigating HM till he had no recourse but to wave the white flag. The Trustee's started their inquiry into HM methods and motives 2mo after he was hired, the board knew then they'd mistakenly hired an egomanic to headup the largest employer in Tarrant County.
The real damage done by HM will come home to roost this Nov. when the AISD try's to have a bond pkg approved by taxpayers to compensate for a 20mil shortfall in their budget. So if it takes the DA going after HM to prove to voters corruption won't be tolerated, in order to gain back lost confidence, it'll happen.

The YISD school board should be congratulated on their decision to vote on an inquiry into Mr. Montenegro's financial dealings while there. It may be that if wrong doing is discovered he can't be prosecuted. The point is that it will send a strong message to other superintendents that this way of doing business is not acceptable. School boards must make it clear that they are the bosses and not the superintenents when it comes to spending taxpayer dollars. That is their main responsibility and why they are elected!!

Wondering... 1.) when hm's gravy train of speaking engagements will dry up 2.) if any ISD will ever hire hm now 3.) if the state will prosecute 4.) when hm is convicted if the state will do more than slap him on the hand with a ruler 5.) if the state will allow hm to draw out his TRS money if he has credentials revoked 6.) if YISD trustees will have the courage to approve in their board meeting tonight to follow AISD's lead in investigating and revealing ALL hm's mismanagement and transgressions while he was superintendent there
...and giving kudos to those who have spoken out about how hm wasn't the wonderful superintendent that was touted. Not every incident can be documented by monetary records or contracts. A composite picture of anyone relies as much on personal examples of character (both bad and good) as it does on public documentation.

It may be too late to hold him accountable but the truth about this man needs to come out. We as taxpayers deserve to know the truth and other school districts need the truth as well. If HM profited from YISD by bringing in programs that he was associated with and took kickbacks for speaking engagements, "mandatory" professional develop training, and book sales that needs to be looked at. Maybe the board can't do anything about it but the law can do something about it.

Folks, HM knew what he was doing, and he enojoyed every moment of it. Hopefully, YISD will report his ethical decisions. Then, hopefully, YISD will request a TEA investigation. Frankly, AISD and YISD board members need to work together to make their investigations public to TEA and appropriate law enforcement officials. Neal Adams, HM's attorney, has simply made a mistake by suggesting that "HM did not understand the law."

From: Hector Montenegro To: Allen Blankstein and HOPE Foundation Alan, I was Googling myself recently (I usually do every two or three days) and I noticed that you have taken me off of the HOPE Foundation website! That was one of my most favorite pictures of me! I had actually practiced that smile Alan! And the bio on there was one of the BEST I’ve ever paid to have written about me! I thought that we had agreed to leave Me on the Big Page and just change the bio to say former superintendent of AISD. What Gives? Google is really starting to annoy me lately anyway since when I google myself it comes up with the HOPE foundation as the number one hit and when I log on I can’t see myself! The number two hit is the Texas Monthly article (man I have that sucker memorized) and that’s old news. Then those damn newspaper and TV things. The only place I can see big pictures of myself is on my own ALAS website. And I need to get my wife to update my bio on that one. Alan, remember that my wife (Raquel Perez) still needs for you to push enrollment for that thing we are wanting to do in Panama. That Hotel and beach we have scouted out ARE FANTASTIC! There is so much booze and so many women. Creating ALAS was better than having Raquel start up a travel agency on the side because it’s all FREE for us! CHING CHING to No Child Left Be-Kind-to-Me Money (remember that old joke we had?)! Hey, do you still have that HOPE position for ‘No Child Left Behind’ Media Relations open? Raquel is not so good at the whole website thing. Listen Alan, WHY did you take me off of the General Session from 2:30 to 4:15 on Thursday, October 23 for the Edinburg Summit? I keep on telling you that Edinburg is so far from El Paso and Arlington that we can make some good money with me speaking! I CAN still do the old Razzle Dazzle like in Denver last year! You don’t even have me booked on Breakout Sessions or Book Signings, what is up with that? Nobody remembers anything Alan, this whole thing is going to blow over. I’ve already got a search firm working on getting me a new gig (those search firms run by ex-superintendents are the best...). Get me back on the speeches ASAP! I still have the one from Denver memorized about ‘Taking Schools Good to Great: The Ysleta Story’. And I got one of those new blue tooth microphones that you can’t see. Alan it’s better than a Shure mike (AISD bought it for me). It’s like I’m not wearing anything at all and my voice comes from everywhere and it’s louder than everyone else’s!(AND you can’t hear what other people are saying). Alan I’m REALLY SORRY that I got caught on the Arlington ISD book thing. But you still haven’t paid me all of the royalties we talked about. It’s getting hard to maintain my place in Arlington with the cops and all wanting to look at my personal records. I had to get those Panamanian twins I brought over for cleaning girls a ticket to Socorro! That book deal and training program is still good to go Alan and it is a Cash Cow! I can still get Mansfield to buy into it in a ‘Sustainable Leadership Capacity’ kind of way (you know what I’m saying). I hope that you still have some of those little circle stickers that say ‘Featuring Hector Montenegro’ that we put on the AISD books. Those were great! Go ahead and kick me some more of that green that we got on the AISD book deal and don’t worry about the YISD and AISD things, Neal has told me all of that is in the clear. YISD and AISD don’t have it in them to do more than just ‘audit’(what a JOKE) Oh well, the twins are still in town and Raquel is definitely NOT so we are having a little party over here right now. I’ll hit you later. HM PS: FOAM PARTY!!!!!!!
