Don't get your panties in a bunch. DOD arranged the beginning of the furlough period to allow Congress enough time to come up with funding for the government, which they are in the process of doing. Will some of the $85 billion in sequester cuts stand? Yes. But payrolls should be funded. Vacant positions will remain vacant as they have done for much of the past decade. Plus, the funding plan will also include provisions to allow a more targeted approach to cutting the $85 billion than the high-profile cuts that have been announced.
