THE Desal plant was an effort that was done to propel our water supply and was a direct result of the BRAC plan. I can help you with the info if need be. EPISD has done a good job of addressing the needs and the passage of the 2003 and 2007 bonds. The 2007 bond was needed to address BRAC and natural growth and it was passed. The Pentagon praised El Paso for the support and it sent a clear message of our desire to do our part. You are right...with that many people it will be tough but the community is working together and that means a lot.

What I have a hard time believing, Mr. B, is you solitary arrogance. I know 100's of people in city jobs and in city government. I get opinions and conversational briefings all the time. There are a lot of people who are shaking at the thought of the responsibility of an instant population. I talk with teachers too who already feel a burden. Sure El Paso will adjust and do as well as it can and add new positions to the city payroll and raise taxes. It must. There is no alternative as anyone will tell you. BUT it won't all be clear skies and soft landings as you always seem to forecast like you're behind the wizard of oz curtain with your control machine.

What everyone is forgetting is that Beaumont takes civilians. All this hooplah is just another way for the Mexicans to get more U.S. federal funding for their health care under the guise of supporting the U.S. military influx. It’s b.s.

the emergency room takes all comers, but the rest of the hospital is a little more selective, Military, families, retires, and their families. Very few illegals if any.

Beaumont is too far for the illegal aliens to drive to. Plus, they get a hassle there. Thomason rolls out the red-carpet, VIP service for pregnant Juarez Mama's, and shot up Narcotics traffickers ,,,, all at TaxPayer expense !!

i think they should close ft bliss down and relocate the ada center to ft sill in ok. my reason is very simple the buisness owners in el paso want the soldiers there for the economic benefit of having them there. they have we support the troops signs posted in there stores but when you ask them for a military discount only about 5% of them actuall have a military discount. i am not looking for a hand out but i have been in the military for 15 yrs and have been all over the world and every where ive been the locals have always had a huge support of the troops but in el paso its the total opposite with a few exceptions.

I've never seen an illegal there, but I'm sure they don't wear signs. All Emergency Rooms are supposed to take emergencies. Beaumont is fortified by barriers and hard enough to move around. Military Police all over the place. I don't know where illegals seeking medical help in a clinic at Beaumont could possibly go. Most assuredly Thomason is the go to place.

Love El Paso, looking at Mt. Franklin.. the greasewood after rain.. Taking the Hounds hunting on the river and mountain for bob cat, and mt. lions and desert fox. Looking at the stars while in the desert at night. Listening to the dogs bay at their finds...
