Old people should make wills giving everything to charity.

They should never buy life insurance because someone is going to benefit from their death.

Very astute!.. LOL

There should also be a federal law preventing another party from buying an insurance policy on someone without their knowledge and consent, and the consent should be in writing with at least two witnesses chosen by the insured.

Poorly written article. When did Pat's husband die? When did her daughter die? When did the complaints with the road begin? Was it over animal feces on the road as previously reported by another journalist or over the use of the road for commerical use? Whe did these neighbors live near the Poki Roni if they didn't like the animals? What is the fate of the animals now? Is someone caring for them on the ranch or are they moved? When is Pat's funeral? Hopefully the El Paso Police are guarding the ranch during this horrible time.

El Paso, Texas is the largest exporter in the world of thouroughbred race horses, pregnant mares, ponies, burros, and every type of equine for slaughter. Many are stabbed in the spine and beheaded in midair with their legs still kicking in Mexico and Juarez. Please write, email or fax the governor, senators and representatives to stop this and pass the anti-slaughter prevention act or bills HR503 and S311 that will end the transportation of horses into Mexico and Canada. This monstrocity goes on daily.

Here is a recent HBO Real Sports with Bryant Gumball showing the true story of a young thouroughbred race horse who didn't run fast enough and went to slaughter. This report also shows parts of El Paso and a horse being repeatedly stabbed in the spine in Juarez while onlookers cheered and clapped.

Dear concerned reader:
We here at the El Paso times are not concerned with the facts in this case. Our policy is not to engage in 'investigative' reporting. Such activities could potentially disrupt our efforts to promote illegal immigration and liberal propaganda. We do not want El Pasoans to be informed as this could potentially result in an intelligent readership which would then demand the truth from us.
Although we respect your comments, we would kindly ask that you refrain from future pursuits for information.
Sincerely,
The El Paso Times.
And if you go to the classified looking to buy a "couch?" Save yourself some time and look for a "catch." Sound alike, dontcha know.

I've known Pat for many years.. as well as her son Travis I spent many years riding there. She was like family to me this is very tragic I'm sure all 30 somethings that lived in El Paso and rode with me feel the same way! That ranch helped many a troubled youth back on the right track! She will be deeply missed......

I cannot believe that Travis would mudrer his mother.
Even though they argued thye loved each other and the ranch. first and foremost was the care of the animals.

When is someone going to write a fitting obit for a woman who gave so much to her community? Is there anyone to write it besides Travis? Pat deserves better. When is her funeral, or memorial service? Does anyone know? Does anyone care? You would think El Paso's horse community might come together and write up a nice obit for her at the very least.

when I was a child, my family moved from germany to El Paso for five years. Like many other kids, I spent most of my time at Poki Roni.
I rememder, Mrs. K giving me my first riding lessons. She used to shout and scream a lot and at the beginning, I was afraid of her :-)
She was the person that has tought me respect and love towards the animals and I am very thankful to have known her. I am also very thankful for the wonderful time at Poki.

No, there ist no doubt in my mind! Travis did not kill his mother!! There is nothing, we can do. but I want Travis to know, that there are many germans here that share my opinion and even if we are not able to be at the funeral, I want Travis to know, that all of our thoughts are with him and his mom.

God bless you!!!

I didn't know this family personally. All I know is every time we went to the ranch we were treated to seeing them work their rear ends off. It was a beautiful place and the ponds were something else. They were tough people so I can only guess what closing down the ranch must have done to them. Everyone who is in knee-deep in rising crap must think of the last resort to the elimination of pain and suffering. I wish they had put out a public plea to help with the law suits. I never even knew about them. I'm sick to my stomach and offer my prayers to all of you who have been personally touched by this.
