They powers that be in Socorro are greedy little bastards. They wan the land to raise their tax base. San Eli residents need to incorporate to prevent the greedy bastards access to their money. They have even settled the problems of extending their office times with the state let alone the ability of their police department to remain neutral much less trust worthy. I agree with the information listed below.

[" We continue to question Socorro's ability to govern itself, much less take on new police, fire and the other amenities cities offer. One former mayor is in federal prison following an illegal drug plea, another is awaiting trial on charges of public corruption while a member of the Socorro school board ... and the most recent mayor, Trini Lopez, resigned last fall amid election-code questions; he didn't feel it was right to hold the office until those questions are resolved. He made the right move. Socorro is temporarily without a mayor and the City Council, itself, has been a bickering group -- and, too, the previous council.

Garcia counters that Socorro does not have financial problems and will have little problem providing services.

As County Judge Veronica said, usually annexation is a good thing "because there are services a county cannot provide."
But too many questions remain. And there is way too much reluctance to annexation.

We agree with Escobar. "I haven't been assured" that the public and the surrounding municipalities will be better off. The El Paso Times editorial board."]

and you are right about that. In 1953 the area from Delta street south was unincorporated. El Paso City Mayor Fred Hervey and the council presented an annexation notice for the area from Delta to where Zaragosa now sits. The area residents came to the city council offices in droves and protested and protested. The El Paso City council backed down but a week later without posting their agenda met and annexed all of Ysleta. This is the same with Socorro. They want to annex the land but now there is the open meetings laws and they cannot meet in secret to annex the land.

You can kiss my bright, red rosy right in the middle of Socorro city hall. You have no decency and no shame. May you only opo a boner in the company of gentleman.

Who the hell wants to be part of the city of Socorro; that city is a total DUMP and corupted Gandara shit hole!
The citizens of San Eli should vote to incorporate and stop this BS.

David Garcia said it would improve services to the community. All it would do is serve up money into the Socorro City budget for those thieves to steal and improperly use. Go San Eli, incorporate and seal off Socorro forever.

Well said! As our resident expert on stealing, you are the perfect one to address this matter.
