The drum corps was nationally recognized for being all girl since it started it was documented and everything. From what I've seen the members don't really seem very enthusiastic. Before I graduated the drum corp really meant something to all of us and we understood how important it was to ysleta high school. I hope these members understand what an amazing organization it is and to keep it the "Heartbeat of the Lower Valley". Thats because its full of juarenos now.

I graduated in 1983 and back then the all girl drum girl rocked. Just watching them perform made me proud to be an Ysleta High grad. Now they all look out of shape and they even let boys in. "How sad".

They do let boys in, but only if the boys agree to be gay. That was the compromise that the school officials came up with.

I was in the marching band and we marched with the girls which will always be an honor! Those 65 or 70 drums just thundered thru the valley and everyone would get excited!! Let the tradition live on! I JUST WISH WE HAD FILMS AND VIDEOS BACK THEN SO WE CAN SHOW IT TO ARE KIDS YES THERE WERE THE BEST AND ALWAYS WILL BE AND THEY WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR HEARTS ONCE AN INDIAN ALWAYS AN INDIAN PRIDE OF THE LOWER VALLEY

Ysleta drum corp, Bel Air pipe band, Rangerettes, Trooperettes, all great traditions ruined by letting "males" join

The drum line was real great back in the mid 60s. The pipers at Bel air were good. however the trooperettes were the worst.
