In summer, in Houston this is a no brainer. Poor people are on the razors edge of society as it is, and though I am sorry for the trooper, we need to have a safety net for essential services. Texas having colonias and such poverty amidst so much uber-wealth is an abomination.

Give me a break, he had money to buy those bullets. He could have sold the guns and paid his bills. there are hotter places on earth and houston isn't one of them. On the bright side he will have a nice cool place to live for 25 to life, or about 15 years before he meets his fate with a needle.

I knew the officer that was killed. I hope Ortiz is loving HELL right now. He saved me some tax dollars for taking his own life. He could of gotten a real job, but making meth was more important to him. I feel so sorry for the officer that died in the line of duty and his family. May God be with you during these troubling times.

You must not have finished reading, he is already dead.We do not have waste tax payers money to feed him for the next 25 years.
