New transportation commission wants to hear from Texans

We the people of Texas yearn for a transportation system similar to the one that exists all over Europe. In essence we can only wish for high speed rail, trolleys, subway, monorails, and modern buses. Our car culture will subside as gas prices increase. We want viable options in our state. In this case look to Europe, they've got it down to a science.

I think a Rapid Transit system would be an excellent idea. I know, it all costs money, raised from taxes. The roads are congested with cars, problems with drainage, and accidents. This slows down the bus system. The Rapid Transit System in El Paso, would really help with the transportation problems, and I would back it. The region is stable, unlike San Francisco or Los Angeles earthquake prone areas. Build it like the Monorail of Disneyland and it would really be a great help. We need this.

At least when I buy gasoline I get something for my money. What I seem to be getting at the moment from El Paso TAXES is Un-repaired roads, Un-usable buses,(I could have walked home in under the four and a half hours the bus took.) It appears to me that tax money is being consumed by politicians. Look around yourself, every vehicle on the road has a ten dollar 'road and bridge' tax added to the license plate tax, which should be used for nothing but roads and bridges. I now mention the tax on fuel - where does it go??? There are several ways to get to Europe. Try one and write home often. By the way, they also have subsidised housing and 'free' medical care. You will have to learn a new language because you just think you speak English:) |

Actually it is the buses that slow down the traffic. Now if we could somehow get east Texas to pay for some of El Paso's infrastructure:) How about if we didn't send our sales tax to Austin and kept it here? |

I don't think I would give myself your handle, but I'll bet it burns you to see the very expensive very empty buses running around. |
