I am proud of such a respectful and well demonstrated show of concern by our youth. Freedom of speech is a remarkable thing.

What a great job of reporting. Exactly why did the students feel school administration put athletics before academics? Is it that difficult for a reporter to pose the question to a few students?

that would most likely be asking for way too much of a dimwit reporter.

It is highly important that we listen to their complaints. Sports, ethletics are important BUT isn't keeping high grades--number one, then sports? Used to be your grades determined if you partcipated in the games. These kids obviously are yearning to learn all they can and feel left out because the principle puts sports above their classes. Not right. They are good kids, notice on the video--they immediately obeyed Mr. Conner to get back to class after peacefully getting their point across. No they DO NOT DESERVE TO BE EXPELLED! they are expressing their rights to be heard in a peaceful manner as they have been taught.

Drop out rates?? Johnny, Suzy, Juan, Juanita still can't read, write or do math. Many of these same ones will be graduating in a few days. Then they will go to colleges in this area. When they get to college they will have to be put into remedial Math, Writing, Reading, English-comprehension, composition, language classes. The only reason that many of them even go to school is because that's where the friends are and ain't nuthin on TV in the daytime. Yep, Mr Garcia, we need higher taxes, more Bonds and to shovel MILLIONS more $$$ into you and "education for the children" in El Paso.

Since the students were not in class the teachers should be docked for all the time that the idiot students spent outside talking smack!

Yes, it is the same Liano who taught at Cathedral. Mr. Liano was a very rude and unfair principal at Fabens Middle School before he became principal at El Paso High. He was rude to his faculty, staff, students, and parents. He was forced out of the Fabens ISD for his unethical work practices. Mr. Liano was asked to resign or be fired. People like him are the ones that give education a bad reputation. I feel sorry for the school community of El Paso High.

It is a good thing that you recognize by your moniker that you are a student cause your spelling and word spacing are the pits, and I don't mean Brad.

I went to EL Paso high and played sports while getting good grades. It is possible to do both. Kids that aren't in sports make a bigger deal about this because athletics get so much attention (even if unwarranted). What exactly do these students claim this principal is doing? No one man can directly prevent them from getting their education which by the way is the responsibility of EVERY student to themselves. Get back to class. If the principal is doing something wrong he will be caught.
