OhmyGosh,

The school districts have not mismanaged their budgets. The Republican state governments want to privatize schools. They want the schools to fail so that corporations can come in and make money off the schools. The people with money will always be able to send their children to the best schools. They will get the best teachers, best resources, etc. Those without money will settle for inferior schools. Schooling is not equitable for all now, can you imagine what the differences will be when the schools are privatized? It won't be fair for those who have no money.

In California, that once had the best educational system in the world, the taxpayers decided that they did not want to fund education adequately. Now California is among the worst states in education. In some cases, there are forty kids in kindergarten classrooms! Is that what we want in Texas, where there is so much money to go around?

Many people don't want to vote for the bonds because they feel that teachers make a lot of money. How wrong they are! Look at the teachers in the schools near you. They have difficult jobs. More than half of the new teachers will leave the profession after the first five years. Many of them are obese because they don't have the time to take care of themselves! Most of them get only a one-half hour lunch break to gulp down their food. Most of them work daily in these environments to help their students succeed for very little money and even less praise.

Many people don't want to fund education because there are undocumented students in the schools. There are undocumented persons in this country because there are citizens and companies that want to take advantage of them. PUNISH the PEOPLE and the COMPANIES WHO HIRE UNDOCUMENTED WORKERS! Don't punish the undocumented workers!

The attack on schools is only one part of what the Republicans have in store for us.
The Republicans want to take away medicare, privatize schools, cut programs and give TAX CUTS for the VERY RICH. If you are a very rich person, OhmyGosh, then you are right to oppose the tax cuts.

Let me end with what Jesse Ventura recently wrote:

To the Republicans and their Greedy Corporations

You control our world. You’ve poisoned the air we breathe, contaminated the water we drink, and copyrighted the food we eat. We fight in your wars, die for your causes, and sacrifice our freedoms to protect you. You’ve liquidated our savings, destroyed our middle class, and used our tax dollars to bailout your unending greed. We are slaves to your corporations, zombies to your airwaves, servants to your decadence. You’ve stolen our elections, assassinated our leaders, and abolished our basic rights as human beings. You own our property, shipped away our jobs, and shredded our unions. You’ve profited off of disaster, destabilized our currencies, and raised our cost of living. You’ve monopolized our freedom, stripped away our education, and have almost extinguished our flame. We are hit… we are bleeding… but we ain’t got time to bleed. We will bring the giants to their knees and you will witness our revolution!

Nick,
Field trips are designed to support education and give students the opportunity experience places that many of them may never get a chance to experience. Teachers aids are there to assist teachers in the lower grades and special education classroom. The students in this type of setting are in need a lot help. You should be a teacher for a week and then you will see what it is really like.(word is paid)(whine not wine)

Dr. Montelongo your an idiot and most of what you wrote is not close to being true. Get your facts correct and your head out of your A.. The Republicans are not perfect but your democratic party is even worse. Spend, Spend and Spend some more will not slove our many problems that we face as a state and a nation. by the way, if you have noticed, the Dems have been in power for a few years more than the Republicans have in Washington and look what they accomplished since being in power since 2006. You must be related to EPISD's Dr. Garcia, another idiot that is clueless to what is going on in his own school district. The only thing serious about him, is his greed and his continued march to total destruction of the school district he is supposed to be in charge of. Montelongo you talk about the rich soaking the poor, check out what Garcia wants to do with the lowly personnel that work 40 hours a week, for 10 to 12 dollars an hour compared to his 280,000 dollar base pay, not to include the perks he gets as well. The school boards have a meeting to discuss ways to run their districts and what does the King of EPISD do, he sends one of his yes men instead. I guess you and Garcia, both being Dr's are probally having lunch together to deceide who to screw next, the rabble or the new secetary in the office. It will probaly be the rabble, its less expensive to start at the bottom then at the top.

Aides do not make a lot of money and perform functions in the school directly with students. They are usually funded with Title I funds and make a huge difference. They don't eat up budget like you are made to believe and have been cut back in staff. You must think this city is safe for students to travel and everyone lives close to a school. Some Parents don't have the work schedules to drive students to school and the traffic and accidents waiting to happen would be great. We must get our kids safely to schools and busses are the best way. Do you really think that the students are going to zoo all of the time, movies and tremendous cost is involved? Whew! The school districts are spending tens of millions on this? It is your children we are speaking about and their future. I agree we can manage money differently but education must be a priority and not an afterthought or a place we don't pay attention.

Not fire but perhaps bring the costs down by lowering the salaries and down sizing the elaborate staff and kingdoms they have created.
I believe that your approach only answers the problem in a small way.

What world do you live in. THE REPUBLICANS ARE DOING THIS AND THAT TO OUR CHILDREN! What are you a Nut Doctor. The people are still making min. wages that haven't increase with the cost of living. The average working El Pasoan still makes less than
$9.00 an hour. 40 x 9 = 360 That's right! Their property taxes are about $360 a month. That make leaves them with 3 weeks of $360.00. Subtract the fed. state. county. and city taxes. That leave them with another $840. The average home cost is about $800 to $1200 a month.
As long as they do not eat, drink, or drive. They'll be okay.(F) ducking demos what to tax everything.
Let the children walk and save tax payer money while keeping them healthy.
Cut the Superintendents Salary and bonuses.
Make School smaller so that the people will know each other.
and quit blaming the Republicans. Its both freaking parties and people like you who got
us in this mess. GIVE ME, GIVE ME, GIVE ME!
People should work for an honest wage. Not these UNION CRY BABIES MAKING $80 to $100 an hour. Why do you think every American Auto Company is leaving or falling behind.
Why do you think every American Company is leaving.
TOO MANY CRY BABIES! And yes some of these companies are also to blame. CEO SALARIES OF OR OVER A COUPLE OF MILLION! That's wrong.
Only people who own their own company or invented a product deserve their millions.
ONLY THEM!

What are you, a hatchet man who only works on the buddy system? You have no idea of what you speak and so you spew nonsense designed to insult true Americans. You should be ashamed of yourself and crawl away with your tail between your legs to lick your wounds. It's people like you who give rise to hate and you sound very much like Tongue did when he took over China. At least he gave the world Chinese food and Peking Duck. What have you given?

In formulating budgets, you need to keep in mind where the monies are most needed, and they are needed with the students and teachers in the classrooms. The school boards and the administrative leadership should always priortize that the cuts do not impact teaching and learning that is to be taking place in the classroom. With that in mind, scrutiny of the budget needs to be line item by line item and a determination needs to be made what are the essentials, what can be added to the essentials, and what can be done without. Another line item is the administrative cost of any district and this budget function needs to be reviewed closely because there are positions that can be consolidated reducing the cost; a question to be raised is why do superintendents need a Chief of Staff when there is Public Relations Information position in place. In closing, the administrative costs begin with the superintendent's salary and it trickles down to all Central Administration personnel. I have much more, but for now, this is all for food for thought.

Enough with so much waste. Work more efficiently, cross train. No bilingual programs, children need to learn proper English. Only children who live in the district should attend the schools. No Mexican plates should be seen in and around our schools. No loaning of friends addresses for children to attend certain schools. No children walking outside of the schools. Which means no outs students need to be in school if not have the tuarant officier pick up any students walking outside during school hours and put them in the D-home. Enough of this court hearings because they don't attend school. Show them you mean business lock them up. It's a choice either the D-home or school.
