That's OK JWRussel. I know your not the one making all these dumb comments. It's the uneducated cholo imposter who needs attention. I am still cutting and pasting his comments to send them all over the darn place. You and I have had intelligent talks before, and I know you'd never write that way. You're respectful like me. Good day.

The DA is poking butt on this one, get them out alread! They should be calling special meetings and they shouldnt be having special meetings. Anyone know what exactly the charter amendment election will be over? Better not make it about extending their terms now and say, look were following the law by holding the election. GET THEM OUT!

KVIA reports that Jesse Gandara may have accepted a bribe from Licon Dairy in the neighborhood of $40,000.00 to have them annexed. The report also stated that D.A. Jaime Esparza was seeking information from the state to see if the City Council is acting illegally and he said he is continuing his investigation into their activities. GO JAIME>

Before I write this, I know several you will make some type of stupid comment, but you just show your level of education and ignorance. Being born and raised in Socorro, I left when I joined the USAF, the days of the Old Ranchito are gone. I also have very many relatives and friends that live in the Lower Valley. My Father, before he died, told me that the Gandara Family are "real dirty businessmen and should not be trusted". As you can tell by now, he is right. All these Socorro Council Persons are wrong. We all know it is "all about the MONEY". They have spent foolishly on several items, to include hiring lawyers to defend Policeman and city employees who have been arrested. Now, with all this that has come to light this past week, I have come to the conclusion of two things: Mr Garcia, the City Spokesman is a paid, not elected employee and will say anything to the news media that will make the City Council look good. But, like everyone else of the City of Socorro Council, he is going to put his foot in his mouth sooner or later. And County Commisioner Perez has no backbone to defend or support the the people of Socorro or San Elizario. He was taught well how not to choose sides. NO means NO! I will always be proud to say "soy de Socorro", but I would not move back. I feel for all my relatives and friends who live there. I still visit often and still go to the Licon Dairy and get azaderos. Best of Luck to all the Socorrenos, especially those who are born, raised and still live there. SOCORRO is SOCORRO, and SAN ELI is SAN ELI. Don't mess with your neighbors backyard!

By the way, Jesse Gandara offered Licon Dairy $40, 000 to be annexed and another $40K to make a city park at the Dairy. Jesse Gandara is the alleged one, not the Dairy.

Trini should be included in this too. Lets not forget that he served in office illegally from May until October. Uy he tries to make himself seem so righteous bc he quit in October but the reality is that he also violated the law by staying there past May. How much do you wanna bet some of these bozos will still want to run for office in the next election? I also LOVE how David Garcia says that a special election costing $35,000 is too expensive but yet they pay for all these lawyers to defend them and their police dogs and here we have Jesse offering bribes higher than $40,000. Bunch of jackasses

["By Veronica Macias

City council members in the city of Socorro will meet on Saturday afternoon to propose holding a general election in May, since they have had held once since May 2011.
However, there is a possibility that council members will no longer represent the city of Socorro by this May. Council members may soon face removal and fines because of a petition filed by El Paso's District Attorney Jaime Esparza.

The Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott has found that Socorro violated election laws by extending their time in office. Council members extended their terms back in December of 2011. Their next scheduled election was for November 2013."]

If they are already in violation of state law and operating illegally how can the two persons still in office vote on any measure? And if they vote will the vote be illegal? Maybe the State Attorney General needs to come down and have the Texas rangers close Socorro City Council down.

Bribe? What bribe? We don't got no stinking bribe. You all musta heard it wrong, let me clarify: Mr Gands said he would take 40 assadero cheeses from Licon's dairy, and 40 dip cones from Dairy Queen. Please get your facts straight!

I agree with your statement. Garcia must work at Burger King, cuz he can sure serve up some whoppers when need be. But anyone can see that the end is near for this illustrious team of corrupt "politicians".

It's very simple and you don't have hold so many special "elections". Look we already have the two and three year terms right? Why not have a general election on May the 11th everyone runs and problem soved! Just like in 2010. Districts 1,2,3, are three year terms and Mayor, At large and District 4, two years, simple. That way Mary G, Gloria, and Mary R will not break the law! By the way if they would like to run for re-election, they may do so. Look at all the moneis we can save!

People can petion for an amendment to change the form of government from manager to goverment. The City of El Paso has giving some thought to it which would give more power to the people and not the City manager.
