The Buddhist symbols at UTEP have nothing to do with religion, UTEP's architecture is based on Bhutanese architecture becausethe UTEP campus was developed inbetween those rock hills.
That is what gives UTEP it's unique appeariance throughout the whole United States, not to mention that Bhutan is a beautiful country.
It upsets me that there would be some IDIOT such as Cheryl Hernandez that would link this architecture to Buddhism Religion.
And that Temple that this stupid Witch Cheryl Hernadez is upset about was a gift given to UTEP as a good gesture by the country of Bhutan.
This kind of architecture gives El Paso and UTEP a feel of diversity, I rather have that than a bunch of buildings looking like sombreros and cerapes with statues of Mexicans lying all over campus taking a siesta.
That Stupid Mexican Witch is she in the country legally? Someone should call ICE and check her background PINCHI BRUJA!!!

The symbols do not bother me at all. To each his own. Clearly the young lady is super sensitive to the idea and has very little faith in her own beliefs.

The symbols dont really bother me. But, what would be the reaction if someone used christian symbols?

Anyway this city is a mecca for has-been and wannabe hippies, so they wear all these exotic religious symbols as a way to show they are in tune with earth. Not realizing that thought offends the people of those regilions or following.

I think those Buddhist Symbols are extrodinary special along with the Bhutanese architechture that makes UTEP stand out.Even the Los Angeles Times had a story about UTEP and it's Bhutanese architecture buildings on campus a few weeks ago.
I saw a picture of that Temple this girl Cheryl Hernandez is crying about, that Temple really is colorful and compliments the University.
Whats dissapointing is that Cheryl Hernandez wrote Texas Governor Rick Perry and University of Texas Board of Directors Paul Foster to complain about the Buddhist Temple on campus. Here we have some Whiner female Cheryl Hernandez probably a Jahova Wittness crying that the Temple is going to convert the UTEP Faculty and Student Body into the Buddhism religion, which is complete nonsense.
What I would do if I was UTEP officials is guard this Temple maybe even incase it in a giant secured hard glass vandal proof incloser 24/7.Theres just no telling what Cheryl Hernandez might think of next even more scary if she has any aquaintences that think like her. UTEP campus police should check her purse on a daily basis for matches and butane lighters, she could turn out to be a pyro maniac.Cheryl Hernandez is only at UTEP for her college degree if she gets one, she is not their to dictate what the University should and should not have.It is because of people like Cheryl Hernandez that El Paso dont have much to show and theres more like her all over town, like those against the Smoke Stack, same kind of people same mentality, nothing between their ears but caca.

They bother the hell out of me. As a religious man, I subscribe to the notion that only the Catholic Church is right and they have condemned these Buddhist folks as heretics. All of their rituals and rites and idol worship is an abomination. It's rooted in paganism, demonism and nihilism and I think the whole damn thing is an outrage. My own religious beliefs are not enough to comfort me when this nonsense is nearby and I won't rest for a moment until they are removed. Religious tolerance is fine as long as it's the Catholic faith being tolerated. Everything else is a crock of ****.

You are a hypocrite and you are the kind of people that make other ignorant people like yourself mock the Catholic Religion, yes you give the Catholic Religion a bad name.
You will never rest not even in death your teeth are probably already grinding and knashing.

My teeth are pearly white, thank you very much, because I brush and floss and I chew my food thoroughly. No one can argue with the Pope whi declares what is right and what is wrong. I don't make the rules but I sure as hell follow them as a good religious person always does. I don't like the Church's teaching on condoms, for example, so I use a more natural method of birth control but I wouldn't dare to put one of those damn rubbers on my dong. You are the kind of pagan deviant which is ruining our country. Why can't you just straighten up and follow the rules of the Church and we'll all be happier.

Boy got to agree with ya 100% on this one. This will be something diffrent around these parts besides adobe and plaster fake stucco well ya know where I'am coming from. I don't see no problem with it and to make everyone happy they might want to post some visitor signs in Spanish. That way that bruja and her family can enjoy it more. She needs something to be good at. Like minding her own business.

I totally agree with Cheryl Hernandez!!! She is not a witch !!! She has a passion for the body of Christ to stand for Him and not give in to a belief system being pushed on our young people!!! We should have the right to put our christian symbols also in UTEP. This is America and we should have freedom, unity, and equality!!!

Buddhist is a religion -Buddhisim.If Christian or Islamic symbols were placed at UTEP racist liberals like your self would by crying foul. This is the same as liberals complaining about Christian symbols at Private Catholic colleges. If we cant have them then Buddhist cant either. Ponte a pensar guey! Ultra liberal UTEP would never put up Christian relics they would rathet put up satanic relics and claim it is art. Our society today.

In that case aithiest should leave Catholic colleges alone for displaying Christian symbols. Or public displays of Nativity scenes around CHRISTmas time. Fair is fair, its a public education institution displaying pagan religious relics for public viewing.

All this calling names--- witch, jotillo, etc. These are all used in a derogatory way and yet no one objected. I am a Witch. I am a Shamanic Witch and Paganism is an officially recognized religion of the U.S. My grandson is a Jotillo (homosexual) and he is a very good kid, probably a better person then jutep.
The Pagans I know have no problem with other religions and we certainly have no problems with cultural displays of any kind. I always thought universities and schools of higher learning were meant to diversify our lives and open us up to new and different experiences. To listen to one bigoted, uninformed and uneducated person (Cheryl Hernandez) and not put up this temple is ridiculous.
