Per this comment: "The route, which looks to relieve traffic congestion away from I-10, would use an elevated freeway starting near Sunland Park Drive through Paisano Drive connecting to the César Chávez Border Highway and ending where I-10 connects with Loop 375 on the far East Side."

Where has this city representative been all this time? This issue has been out there, plus publicly discussed for a long time, and with plenty of time to surface concerns.

This is a necessary, VITAL road link that will complete the Southern portion of the Border Highway. Just watch the NEWS when there's an ACCIDENT on the Westside of Interstate 10. The highway is BLOCKED because there are no gateways on either side of the interstate. Basically, it's a PRUDENT public safety solution to a very pressing highway need and problem. In addition, it will certainly open the downtown and UMC areas to economic development.

But hey, IF HE DOES NOT WANT that project, that's OK! It's a very expensive project likely in the range of $350 to $400 million. That money could easily be TRANSFERRED to OTHER need PROJECTS.

How about putting it on the North-East Anthony Gap Parkway project; OR a connector route between Interstate 10 and the Border Highway; OR the folks in the Lower Valley can certainly use it for their needed road or railroad projects.

Botton line: it's a NEEDED PROJECT which people have had plenty of time to comment on. If El Paso does not complete it now, it will certainly be a DUMB MOVE to lose the oppoprtunity!
