"They are frustrated that Obama and the Democrats couldn't fix in two years what it took Bush eight years to torpedo." No Congressman Reyes, this is not the reason there is a different political climate in the U.S. The reasons are plain and simple: massive spending, the attempt to repeal the Bush tax cuts and your jamming down our throats the abominable health care plan. Wake up Congressman, you work in the House and wearing blinders doesn't help us or the rest of the country.

Ya Right,Einstein. Repeal the tax cuts for the top 2%.Pay what you paid under Slick Willie, we all did great them.I cry myself to sleep every night worrying about Billie Gates and the Fat Dope Head having to pay more and being forced to use food stamps and drive a jalopy.Who gets estate taxes that are more than 5 million besides you Ole Great One? You pay taxes on that 5 mil estate and you will be in the poor house, poor thing. You can afford 250 bucks a week for health care, for each person in your family, and think that bums that can not afford that chump change should take a flying leap at the moon and leave you and all your money alone. You don't want no women getting abortions either cause God has a plan and that plan says to hell with women getting abortions even if raped by their own daddy, brother or some kind of immaculate conception.

I think these checkpoints are racist. My grandson was arrested after he went through one even though he was not driving erratically. They charged him with underage drinking, open container and DUI even though the beer was unopened. I asked him to drive to 7-11 or me and get me a couple of tall boys and now he's facing 10 years in prison all because these checkpoints are unfair to minorities. He wanted to go to college but if he has to serve the whole term, he'll already be 23 when he gets out. I hope our new state rep can help us out of this tragedy.

To MR Geehan: Your lucky the Border Patrol advised you that you could go after a twenty minute delay and the dog found nothing. Had the Dog gotten a stronger hit, the Border PArtol would have unloaded your vehicle, popped everything they could pop loose and gone through your luggage. When they were finished they would have said you can go on your way and YOU would have to put everything back in order because they wouldn't do it. NOT THEIR JOB.
To MS ACKERMAN and Mr Garcia. It really isn't up to the city to do anything about the roadway improvements being done by the Texas Transportation Department. They came in and informed the City they are finishing a job they were slated to do years ago before the city annexed all that land along Transmountian west of mile marker 14 to mile marker 11. And if you want the interstate cleaned up along the eastside it is TXDOT that you have to complain to as the city has not control over the interstate except for speed and accident enforcement within the City limits. Ms. Ackerman if the state wished it could take the land along transmountain from mile mark 14 to 11 by emminent domain laws and the city would not be able to do anything but cry over it.

You sent your grandson to the 7 11 to buy you some beer, yet on the way he was arrested for DUI, underage drinking and open container; how was this MINOR going to purchase the beer? Don't think it had a thing to do with race you moron. That card wont alway work; try it at the welfare line.

Mavis...are you some kind of dork? The Border Patrol checkpoints are for illegal aliens and contraband materials (drugs, etc.) If your grandsone was arrested for underage possession of alcohol, good for him, maybe he'll learn his lesson. That will teach you to have an underage person drive you to the Circle K for some tallboys...learn some self control for gods sake. And if he is facing 10 years in prison, its for something else, not tallboys you dupe.

And "ued", the only people that complain about taxes are those that pay them....seems to me that you are afraid of losing some of what you consider "entitlements" here...Too freakin bad. Go out and get a job, then you also will complain about being taxed. You want health care, go buy a policy like everyone else. And last, but not least, go back to school, your command of the English Language is sorely lacking, as is your typing skills.

Yes, the racist officers tacked on all sorts of charges like resisting arrest and assault. That's what they do when they feel like exercising their authority over the black man. It's not going to teach me anything - I asked him to go for me because I lost my license so I know better than to drive myself.

He looks much older than he is. He looks like he's a man even though he's only 13. It was definitely racist because they're not hauling in any white kids and trumping up the charges.

Agreed! Must not have paid the cable bill and can't watch the View. What a shame. Has no life.

Actually, a story that sounds very similar to what she's talking about was in the paper about a week ago. I don't remember any names but a youngster was taken into custody at the checkpoint near Alamogordo just like she says. Don't be so quick to judge.

Ismael Garcia - if you are talking about the medians on I-10, that's TXDot responsibility, not the city.

I will like to bring to the attention the broken rock wall on the corner of Tierra Este and Tierra Volcan. It's been about a month since a car hit the wall and broke it sending pieces of rock all over the road. What worries me is that the loose rocks were stacked to cover the hole left after the accident and people walk by it every day. It will only take for an innocent child lean over the rocks and a catastrophy will happen. Please, have a city inspector stop by and make an asessment of the situation.

You are out of your mind. Dudley Do-right or Sgt.Schultz can tear hell out of a private citizens car and then refuse to put the car back together or pay the citizen what the car was worth when they don't find a damn thing? No way Jose! Texas is far in debt that it is not even funny. Now these idiots can go out and declare eminent domain and spend more money that they ain't got just to prove how dumb, stupid and powerful they are. Until we show Republicans where the door is and install some democrats then we will keep getting the "Schnitz" .

Give it a rest, will you? My cousins try to claim that sort of thing all the time when the owners of 7-11 run them off from perusing the porn mags without paying for them.

If I may read between the lines of your complaining letter.......
You have lived on the Eastside for 11 years and do not know who your City Rep is? Are you here legally? Do you vote?

Residents being cited for overgrown yards when the medians have weeds on I-10? Well if you are a leagal resident you should know that I-10 is a Federal highway and as such maintenance is doen by TX- DOT not by the city and if you own your home you should know that the regulations require you to keep the grounds in a certain manner that are available to you on-line or by request at City Hall, Environmental Control and from your City Rep whose name you SHOULD know.

Educate yourself sir about our laws in El Paso before you complain about them.......oh and the Westside is home to a lot of Drug smugglers and Mexican government officials so the rules are even stricter over there at their request!
