El Paso, TX (KTSM)— The group behind the Triple A Baseball stadium had a plan long before it became public knowledge, and didn't care what voters had to say, according to the City of El Paso's mayor. Mayor John Cook is speaking up days before he leaves office.

Like the banner says, the Triple A Baseball stadium is happening. Whether you like it or not. "It's something they probably could have planned better and found a better spot to make the stadium at," Latousha Davis, a Northeast El Paso resident told us.

Mayor John Cook says he has been and is still skeptical of the new stadium. "I don't think it's going to be the economic driver that everybody thinks it's going to be," Cook said.

Almost a year after the baseball stadium first appeared on City Council's agenda in June 2012, Cook is holding nothing back, talking about how the stadium came to be. The Mayor said the group behind the team, Mountainstar Sports Group, approached him almost a year before residents were made aware of the plan.

"The Mountainstar folks came and talked to me about the potential building a baseball stadium and identified a site they wanted," Cook explained.

That site, was right where that meeting with Mountainstar took place - where the old City Hall once stood.

The mayor thought they were going to ask voters for their approval. "Quite frankly I was surprised when they said don't worry about going to the voters... And they said,'don't worry about it.," Cook said.

Even though he wasn't completely on board, Mayor Cook allowed the stadium to go through.

"The reason I didn't veto... because there was a majority of the people that tried to influence council's decision who were supportive of it," he said.

We contacted Mountain Star Sports Group about this story and they said they would get back to us.

See I told all of you that there was no way this thing was going to a vote because Mountainstar had bought the City Council Votes. The Council members who were against the ball park in place of the city hall had no clout as Joyce Wilson. Steve Ortega, Susie Byrd. Courtney Niland and Emma Acosta were bought off with promises. The only members who fought were Robinson and Holguin. The old lady of the group was talked into voting. We should never had been excluded from the decision. Time to run some people out of office and out of town, starting with Joyce Wilson. Steve Ortega, Emma Acosta next time around and Ann Morgan Lily if she does not die first.

It's a little to late, John Cook. And you hid this from the public for a year. What happened at City Hall was disgusting and sick that made alot of people sick. Thankyou for the nightmarish memories.

And for the record, that City Hall was not old city Hall, opened in 1979. There is an old city hall before that refered to as old city hall.

That lying sack of chit Mayor Crook should be held accountable for his actions. He knew the day the vote was made, what was in the deal. He could have vetoed the deal, at that moment. But he said with a smirk and his face that night that he would think about it. Crook knew damn well that he would not veto the bond because of the kickbacks that he and others will receive from the deal, bought off politicians. Now he wants to look like a innocent by stander. He's just another dirty ratbastard politician, waiting to get his pockets filled, once out of office.

It doesn't matter any more the beaners were led by the nose by Ortega and the two white women, beaners will do anything for a white women even if one of them is old enough to be their granny, beaners are sick that way.

In the not too distant future Ortega and bruja Joyce will be in their limos headed out of town with their pockets crammed full of white tax payers money. Too bad the beaners didn't realize that this will eventually cut into their social welfare programs. But oh well at least they'll give the new flea a Mexican name.

Pretty sure they do or he is hiding something else. A lot of times political leaders are taken down by affairs with women or some other stupid misjudgment, If there is nothing to hide release the emails. If it is a work computer and has city business yes. If it was his home computer on his private emails its no one else business.

Some investors in Las Vegas, NV are also considering building a new triple A baseball stadium in Summerlin to replace Cashman Field. They propose it will be family friendly, "aspiring to create a night at the ballpark to include more than watching nine innings of a game". Lets see how it goes for them.

There's a more detailed article about this at KVIA's website title, "El Paso mayor reveals more about ballpark location". What really burns my butt is the mayor thought then, and still does now, that the stadium is not "going to be that big an economic driver" downtown. So then why not veto? What a load of BS.

Quick side note: I disagree with some of comments above, about the mayor getting some financial gain out the the stadium deal. If anything, his recent comments make the Hunts/Fosters and other co-conspirators look bad. Why burn those bridges? If anything, I think maybe the mayor thinks he's NOT getting enough love from the stadium mafia. The guy's up to his eyeballs in lawyer debt, you know.

What does Oscar have to say about this monumental revelation? Mayor Cook, your were boiled and fried and could have shown courage like our troops in the face of fire and instead, you just purred around like a tame pussycat. Of course, most of the citizens knew you couldn't Tiger Up and veto the whole enchilada. Please, go quietly.

I don't know but what Foster and Hunter did to City Hall was an act of terrorisism of the city of El Paso. It showed how much they red do OWN El Paso, including the land that your house is at most likely. That whole destruction of City Hall and the Smokes stacks sent a message to all El Pasoans that Foster-Hunt can do whatever they want including destroying your home or raise your property taxes anytime

There you go again with your vile comments to someone that didn't directly go after you. Can't you either post a decent comment or just leave a thread alone without spewing your hate on a thread that is trying to have decent comments?
