These are the same A** holes that just filed suit against the State, State Engineer's office, EBID, Farmers and all New Mexicans with water rights less than a month ago to steal ground water (claiming the Federal Government really owns it since it was at one time surface water).

As I remember right the ruleing, for the most part, went against the Department of the Inferior.

Mr. Conner can pound sand!!!!!

The reseason that want to "negotiate" now and drop the law suits is that they lost on the first round.

You can bury your head in the sand if you want but my eyes are wide open. The farmers have been using way too much water for years and now it's time for them to come correct. They may think they have won with the bumper chili crop this year, but they still have the devil to pay.

I don't like it any more than you do but it's the way of the world and we can't fight it. Here in El Paso, we're all going to line up in front of city hall to bend over and spread our butt cheeks because we've got one more screwing to take on this baseball deal.

Yielding to an unjust law might be in your comfort zone, not mine.

I'm in the county so the rape of city citizens is out of my immediate grasp.
You'll need to groom a city savior.

Your head is buired somewhere else and it is not the sand.

Texas has never managed its water while New Mexico has managed the water very well.

Back in the 80s when El Paso realized what a piss poor job they did manageing the water they decided to steal the New Mexico water that had been managed and preserved very well.

As I recall El Paso (public service board) won the battle but lost the war. The ruleing said New Mexico could not restrict movement of the water from one state to another but to drill wells in New Mexico El Paso would have to follow New Mexico State ruels (i.e. own the water right and get a permit to drill the well from the State Engineer). Needless to say no permits have been issued to EP.

Supdity on the part of El Paso does not give them the right to steal water from New Mexico plain and simple.

The Dam, lake and the ability to inpound water was all paid for by those in the project (farmers in bth New Mexico and Texas) regardless of if you like it or not the surface water rights are theirs.

However they do not have rights to all the ground water. Neither does EBID (that suit was alaready tried and lost) or the department of interior, or El Paso.

That item is controlled by the New Mexico State Engieers office and has been for a long time (the reason we DO NOT have the same ground water issues as El Paso with the Texas "rule of capture".

I will flush twice tonight so you something to drink tomorrow.

A New Mexican with water rights.
