With the crackpot scheme of turning the downtown area into a cultural center our city leaders will be coming to us asking for us to vote in another sales tax increase to fund it. With our town being one plant closing away from turning into a ghost town, these gomers want to spend 50 million dollars to turn the entire south end of downtown into a theater and cultural district. Why not put that kind of expenditure into luring a major business to come here and employ 500 people? Having "culture" isn't going to bring El Dorado back, having jobs will. Who in their right mind is going to say to themselves, "I just have to move to El Dorado where they have a theater, Don't know where I'll work to support myself but I just have to move there"? Not to mention, how many businesses will this scheme displace and not pay them what there property and business is really worth? These so called leaders need to get their heads out of the clouds and come back to earth and figure a way to bring jobs to El Dorado, not Shakespeare and pocket parks.

You're an idiot. Less than 20% of this $50 million will be paid for with the economic development tax dollars, and THAT IS FROM THE EXISTING TAX. Learn to read!

Funny how this post appeared about the same time Kevin Sims went off about the same thing on Facebook. Kevin, quit being such an arrogant jerk and just shut the F up. Nobody wants to hear about your balloons or your family or your opinions about everything in the world. Go away, little man...

Watch and see if they don't come at us for either an extension of the "temporary tax" we already have or a new one. Either way, we don't need an entertainment complex here, that won't do diddly. We need jobs. It doesn't make me any difference what the percentages are. All that money could be use to get large business in here that will employee people and put money in their pockets. Look what they have done with that tax money, the conference center. It's about as useful and needed as tits on a boar hog.

As for you All The Same, if you think you're man enough to try it come on. The only thing that will beat you to the hospital is the headlights of the ambulance you're riding in. I'm not the "welfarehomo" you're so fond of. I work for a living.

If you do not want to hear what Kevin has to say why don't you delete him as a friend and poof you don't have to hear/see it. You have the freedom to hear/see what you want. Me myself love hearing his opinion on things.

I'm not Kevin Sims nor Henry, or Craig. But maybe, just maybe more than one person has the same opinion that this cultural center is just ludicrous in today's money challenged times. This town needs jobs not Shakespeare. What good will any of it do if no one has any extra money to spend there? Like I said before, let one more big employer leave and that will do it for El Dorado.

It's going to be a perminate tax to pay for our festival city deal. It's a done deal and there is nothing that can be done to stop it.

You can't tax people into prosperity. Far too many tax and spend liberals in charge.

That fatboy is a fuckingdumbass. Somebody should put a muzzle on Kevin Sums before people start believing his idiotic rants. He's a freaking journalist! The easiest degree to obtain.

Now there is a recurring theme. Little Men with Little Means. This sounds like a story for a original play to be written, produced and performed in the new theater by a troupe of mennising migets.

I believe you cannot be that smart yourself or you would use intelligent comments on how he is uneducated rather that personal attacks and cuss words.

The use of profanity and "non-intelligent" posts are only what people like Sims (and yourself) will understand. Glad my message got across. Now, GROW THE FUCKUP, PAPER BOY!

Or just shoot me an email. [email protected] I'm not hard to find and obviously I'm important enough in your life to talk about me on the El Dorado site.

Is anything in your life important enough for people to talk about on here? I really doubt it.
