Actually--Actually it isn't the Chamber President's job to try and get Companies to locate to a city, that is the Mayor and City Council's job along with the County Judge. The Chamber President put's feelers out and try to gauge their interest into relocating to a City then the City takes over and lures them in the rest of the way. The Economic Board and the City and County leaders offer what tax breaks and other incentives they have to offer to get that Company to move here. Henry had several, not 1 or 2 but several companies interested in moving here, some with potential of over 250 employees but didnt get the help from local Government or local people that owned land, etc. Good luck to him in Wichita Falls Texas.
Yes, it is the Chambers job to recruit businesses, dipshit. It's not there job to host a bunch of meetings where everybody gets up and says "We're doing good." We haven't had any businesses of 250 employees interested in moving her, liar. Those type of businesses set up in different countries! Businesses are not hiring. Not the Chamber goober's fault, but retail places are not the ticket. Luckily, people were smart to avoid that boat plant debacle. Good luck with that Fordyce.

And Wichita Falls is a lateral move. More people, more problems. "They have A TARGET!" OMMOTHERFUCKIN G! More pay, higher cost of living. Apparently, they have family out there. Good for them. And better for us.

What did Henry do for El Dorado. I read the article in the news times and other than he being a cheerleader I can not see any improvement in our long term situation. Happy trails.

This much is certain: he did a good enough job that people came in from out of town and offered him a job. No one would ever think that highly of you. And certainly no one would think you should lead the chamber or even think you should have anything to do with economic development.

So suck it.

Hell he hasn't been here but a couple of years. He sets up a bunch of lunches, takes a few local officials out of the office, and took credit for some retail stores moving in. Improvement to our long-term situation still doesn't have a solution. Anyone educated can read through the bullshit in the paper. Isn't it sad that our town breaks its back for some outsider coming in to resume build by stripping away our sense of community to hold lunch gatherings? While alienating those that have lived here for years and sacrificed their years, efforts, finances, etc.? And the key question is why is El Dorado in significant decline? Folks, I think we have our answer!

So you think working hard and building goodwill in the business community is resume building? That must be why you are still stuck in your dead-end job. If you knew anything about business, you would know that building trust and building relationships is a vital part of it. Respect is not the same as kissing your ass.

So what did you ever do for this town besides say nasty things about people behind their backs, insult people who work hard, and tell everyone the sky is falling because you didn't get your way?

Why don't you just grow the hell up?

No, I don't consider hardly working and dragging officials and hosting a bunch of events a good way to build a resume. But a couple of years of doing so doesn't resolve the long-term problem: available jobs. We can't attract young people or even encourage our own to stay because the Chamber focus is on the publicity rather than the results. I am sorry my "dead end job" of providing my hard work to one of the largest corporations in town is a joke to you. Since you are quick to insult blue collar labor, we see for ourselves the type of personality this tool, you, and your cronies have and how you really feel about the local labor force.

If YOU knew anything about business, then YOU would know that building trusts and relationships are a vital part of it, but NOT the only part. Respect is not given; it's earned. A nanny-figure coming in and gathering everybody together to "play nice" is not respect. Respect should be part of day-to-day operations. However, we hired someone to address our long-term problems: a declining population and job availability, which has led to more budget cuts from state funding. So, in your mind, getting everyone together to eat so they will get along will help solve this?

And I've done many things for this town for the almost 40 years I've lived here. If you're insulted because your only defense is "I'm insulting people that work hard," then you show just how much you know about hard work. It's about working smart. Just like you do on a daily basis about Wal Mart, ATT, or whatever, I'm calling a business service like I see it. For that matter, isn't that why this "innovator" gets paid the big bucks as compared to us in the dumbass dead end jobs, as you put it? I'm sorry if what I say hurts your feelings, but no need to get drastic "the sky is falling." Not sure how "getting my way" has to do with a poor performance. It shoes how much you really have to contribute to the subject. So, why don't you get a little more education on the mess that will be left. A couple of years of a waisted nothing to suffer through, then get back to the drawing board of where we were a couple of years ago. It wouldn't surprise me that his quick exit was actually a way of him being let go. Hopefully, they'll find someone that has more sense of economic development instead of another Jerry Springer.

Thank god this clown of a couple is gone. It's so nice that someone can "create" a problem by celebrating certain enhanced aspects of a few complaints by negative people to build an indicated platform as a "solution" to justify a solidified resume, giving the time to search for that next big lateral move before even one "solution" is implemented. All while escorting your female dog on a mobile business venture, pissing people off along the way. Stay classy, El Dorado.
