It was reported in your newspaper that the auditorium will be seeking a "much needed" renovation of something around $5.6 million dollars. It will not be successful if much more on site parking is provided. The article did not say how many additional parking spaces will be built. The biggest physical obsolescence with the auditorium is very very limited parking for a structure that can seat 1800 people. Several of us quit attending evening performances due to the fact that we had to park in front of people's homes and walk more than a few blocks in darkness. The homeowners and apartment tenants gave me some cussing about ten years ago when I attended a concert.

Can anyone tell me how many total parking spaces will be added if this project gets done???

They need to buy land apartments across 10th ST on and move ball field and turn it all into parking for auditorium, stadium, and ball games.

We will have everyone park at the conference center and trolley them to the auditorium.

Just remember if you are going to have a structure that will accommodate large numbers of people then ample and convenient parking is a # 1 priority. Do you think WalMart would have a store with very limited parking? I do know there are a lot of people that feel the same way as the person above. With limited parking there comes limited limited attendance.

I still think we should have bought this: http://www.topix.com/album/detail/el-dorado-a...

Instead of hanging out in the Griffin Auto or City Shop yard between conventions of drunk and drugged public school teachers from dry counties as the rubber tired trolley does, it could be used for excursions on beautiful Lake Frank.

I know people and groups that will not have events at places like Granite Club, Myrtelle House and Conference Center because they don't want guests parking on the street or others property.

Acquire more land for parking to the West and North.

They are adding more parking. Maybe if you all stopped complaining every time people in this town tried to bring in more entertainment and things for people to do and paid attention you would know that.

If you aren't part of the solution you are probably part of the problem. Nothing will ever change for you complainers because your problem is YOU not the world around you!

There is plenty of parking to meet the needs of the conference center. It has comfortably hosted events that have seated over 800 people. Well done, city officials, for addressing the real parking problem, which is at the Municipal Auditorium.

From the City Council meeting last night, the paper said that the architects did not include plans or funding for more parking spaces. You should not spend $5 million plus dollars without correcting the parking shortage.

An estimated $230,000 for site improvements (parking lot entry, pedestrian walkway leading to the parking lot of Memorial Stadium, and a patio/plaza addition to the auditorium).

Dunn had explained that a parking lot expansion was not included in the plan, and Alderman Dianne Hammond asked later what it would cost to incorporate it into the project.

Hash said the city has a plan to expand the parking lot west, and the job could likely be done in-house and as a side project separate from the master plan. The mayor said the city has already been awarded a grant to cover drainage in the area.

Pointing to a recommendation for a pedestrian esplanade leading from the EMA to Memorial Stadium as complementary parking for the auditorium.

Has anyone else noticed that Blake Dunn (CADM) architecture firm is milking the towns tax dollars on every municipal building for the past 4 years or better... The auditorium wasn't worth remodeling yrs ago so we spent upwards of 10 million to build the conference center... 50 million on EHS HS...which has continually had problems foundation to parking lot although CADM was paid 38,000 a month to oversee the project after design costs!!!

EHS is and will be Continually plagued by structual problems... Hold your breath for the improvements to the airport and auditorium... I know this guy, and since his divorce he does nothing but try to recant his losses through taxpayer means and mows his yard every 3-4 days... Weird science...
