People wake up. Your local government is not doing their job. Your city council makes it virtually impossible for new business's to come in. You have judges that do not go by the laws of the state. Your DA buries old cases because it is easier then having to try someone on a second offense. Especially if it a case of domestic battery. Your sheriff post his warrant list. When you call to tell them where someone is unless they are in ElDorado his opinion is to leave them where they are instead of picking them up and making them pay for their crimes.
They put people in jail for failure to appear or no insurance and let those who deal drugs, beat their wives and kids, and attempt to kill people go with a small fine and probation.
Wake up because El Dorado is not the town I was born in.

Beaten,

I have lived in Texas where they don't play with any type of assault especially domestic. I currently live in Louisiana where if you call the sheriff they are there right away, and take the batterer to jail. They do not offer a get out of jail, expunge your record if you attend a class card. You can take the class but it is while you are in jail.
Pay attention next time there is a big drug bust in El Do. Guarantee you over half will never go to court. It is just done to keep Little Rock off their butt.
Eldo needs a change and soon.

El Dorado is the most messed up town I've ever lived in, heck look at the posts on some of the other topix. everyone is in everyone else's business. Married men/women are a game to the opposite sex, they aren't interested in single people only married or in a relationship. The police and judges don't know the laws. you pay taxes up ur butt for what? they don't fix anything. little 3 or 4 year olds with no supervision in the middle of streets...main streets. and cops would prosecute a no seatbelt law than a murder or shooting.

The price of this Convention Center Joke would have built a nice, large cell block add on out on American Road with enough money left over to pay the extra employees. The mounting crime in this town is making the Murphy Promise look "Not So Good". Nobody wants to raise their kids in a town like El Dorado is turning in to.

Humm,

I didn't get caught doing anything. It is frustrating the mayor and city council thinks they will bring people in with the promise. Well where are the parents going to work? El Dorado lost a possiblem Lockheed Martin subcontractor several years back because the town fathers wanted them to have to truck the test planes accross town. Rather then allowing them to build the plant by the air port. That plant now employees several hundred people in Kansas. Another thing why would they stay in a town where drugs are allowed to be dealt in plain sight and things are only done during an election. Wake up ElDo before you wind up like Smackover and Norphlet.

Can you give one single example of that happening? Just one.

Sorry I missed your last post.

That didn't happen. Unless by several years you mean 30-40 years. And it wasn't a L/M subcontractor it was Mooney Aircraft. And yes that was a huge mistake for the time. It isn't now because Mooney has gone bankrupt about 5 times since then.

EldoMaster,

My info came directly from some one who worked with the City Council. It was approximately fourteen years ago. Several stores have attempted to come to Eldo, Target, Dillards, even a small outlet mall. Numerous corporations have shopped Eldorado but I guess that new convention center is going to feed, clothe and supply jobs to all of those who are unemployed.
As far as the legal system I can give you examples of that as well if you like.

Name the company. I've either been at or read the minutes of every Airport Commission meeting in the last 20 years.

The City Council didn't do anything to stop any of those stores coming to El Dorado. They may not have done anything to help bring them in but they didn't stop them. A falling population over the last 30 years has done that.

That, and a poor Chamber system. Which, on one hand, is making many changes. It is not the responsibility of the Mayor and City Council to bring in jobs.

TO Former El Doradoian: I like the enthusiasm. Become proactive! The El Dorado Chamber of Commerce is a great place to stop by to volunteer and/or request info about bringing new opportunities to El Dorado. Your expertise on this matter is just a phone call away!

Arkadelphia now a promise. Two 4 year College's are big plus to generate growth. Competition with Eldo to draw in new people.

Quit bitching and go open the store you want yourself. You people make me want to leave because of your negativity. Yea our former chamber and other city officials sucked but now the new ones are actually trying to make some things happen and all you can do is complain about what didn't happen 15 or 20 years ago! Dillard's, Target and others were not ever coming because the demographics of our area would not support those stores. And Red Lobster, Outback and many others will never come either and all your griping will not change that.
