If Kloap wasn't a big jerk, there would be more people in the band. Me and a number of my friends aren't really impressed with what he's done over the years. The band's still small and even though they've done enough to excel at the band competitions, they're still horrible.
I'm glad he put a little discipline into the band, but I think he put in a little too much discipline. As a result, he's scaring off students who have what it takes to excel in a school band.

There is a couple of history missing links from the notes on this site. Let's hope I fill it in correctly.
Leonard Fulkerson was an excellent band director followed by Charlie North (a Jr.Hi, band director from Little Rock, followed by Herb Cagle, both very competent band directors.
Fulkerson was the band director who took the EHS band to the 1939 Worlds Fair and started the excellent concert and marching bands of the 1940s.
Bill Craig (music historian of El Dorado) was also an outstanding musician and music teacher in El Dorado during a part of this era. He has written a history of some of the professional musicians from El Dorado, an eye- opener for what a small town in Arkansas can contribute to the music world.
