The absentee Doctor from Illinois that owns the mall has hired a former realtor to manage that dying facility on the north side of El Dorado. He plans to open a conference center after he fixes the leaks in the roof.

Didn't the city just build one of those?

At least it will have more parking than that "oh so needed" new conference center we now have.

She is not a "former" realtor. She is currently active and licensed in Arkansas and Louisiana. I think if anyone can do anything with that place it will be her.

The problem is that, no matter what her intentions are or the skills that she brings to the table, Dr. A**wipe is not going to allow her to spend the money it takes to make the badly needed repairs! Believe me - I know from personal experience!

That mall is an eye sore. People in El Dorado can't see the forest for the trees. People in other towns enjoy more modern things in their towns. Searcy and Jonesboro are good examples of what projess looks like. The whole town of El Dorado needs a face lift. Those powerlines on Hillsboro look like 1937. Did we just get electricity? Modern cities have underground utilites! What a concept! And green spaces and zoning to prevent blight and ugly.

That mall needs to be torn down and redeveloped as an outdoor entertainment/retail center. Like the one in Destin or the Chenal Promenade in Little Rock. Just not as fancy. People would love it if it was safe and fun. The last time I went in that mall I had to take antidepressants just to get over it. I was sad...so sad. No wonder everyone goes to Pecanland Mall or to the Boardwalk. Or to Dallas for shopping.

Spend your money here.

Development in El Dorado will always be a challenge because of some people that don't want any development and some others only if it directly enriches them. This is part of what makes it more expensive to live and build here than Little Rock, Monroe or Shreveport. On the other hand, I'd bet many other small communities in other parts of the country have many of the same challenges we have. We just need to over come them in some way so El Dorado can be a better place to live and an attractive place for people to make investments. We have much better leadership now ie: Henry at the Chamber, Frank the Mayor and Mike Loftin the County Judge.

I'm not but 41 years old but we walked thru the mall, before JC PENNEY's closed the mall entrance, I explained to our kids that the mall used to be the place to go! Paula's Shoes, Radio Shack, ect... Santa, Easter Bunny everything was there. Lol there used to be variety in shopping. One of the Pink Ladies at the hospital was commenting the other day that she bought a jacket at Stage the other day, wore it to church and there were 12 more just like it being worn at the same time! Dunno Eldo, may you find the reason and the strength to refurbish yourself!

I totally agree why did the officials leave all the area as just grass instead of making parking yes the conference center is a nice place to go but where does a person park

There were city laws/ordinances broken because they allowed a building of this size and type to be built without parking. If visitors are going to get there by automobile then they must have a place to park on site. Many many people weree involved and let this be ignored. Just tell potential visitors to stay away until we get a parking lot.

There were two churches in the Mall but they both left because Dr Ahole won't fix the A/C or the roof. There were more people in the Mall on Sunday than the rest of the week combined. Why do stores close their mall entrances?

Hello everyone. My name is Kimberly Florsheim and I have been contracted with the mall to be their property manager. In my capacity of Realtor at Keller Williams Realty-Parishwide Partners I will also be listing and leasing out the interior spaces. I took this additional job because I am a shopper and wanted to do what I could to help El Dorado attract regional and national tenants. I have never been one to just complain and not do something to try and fix the issue. Renovations are slated and contractors are currently being interviewed to renovate the facade. Blueprints are drawn up and available at the mall office. The roof is going to be replaced in sections, beginning very soon. Plans to renovate the interior will be a year or so down the road after the roof and facade are complete. Until then I have implemented a plan that will clean up and make the mall a nice place to walk and visit (as many, many people do regularly). Non profits are invited to display information about them and their events in the window displays. A local company has been contracted to put up additional displays in other windows. I have been told the issues of the past, but I hope all will move past them, learn from them and make the Mall the place it once was. There are leasing specials and incentives available now. I would love to speak with anyone that would like to hear more or might have an interest in joining with me to move the Mall forward. I can be reached at mellorparkmall@att.net
