So is the parade on or off? That was once considered the largest in the state! That damn Henry @ chamber needs a stump talking! Why would he want to either cancel or pawn off one if the best draws we have! Especially when the goal is to be "festival city"or "its showtime". Sounds like he just wants to pawn off all the work
a 50 plus year tradition! Off? Just because new sheriff in town thinks he should be doing more important things? What the crap is he doing? He been here over a year and a half!

It's already been said that the Christmas Parade will go as planned. Why are you purposely trying to spread a lie? Do you hold a personal grudge against the parade?

It has been said that it will not be a parade at all.

Someone is lying to you, or you just want to believe it. Several people on this page alone have already found out. BTW the posts came from atleast 3 different IP's so you don't start accuse me of answering my own posts.

A date for the parade has already been set! And the "several people that have found out" are believing the same lies you are. The parade will go on, as usual. You are just trying to start sh!t to entertain your miserable life.

They found out by calling, just like I did. I would love for the parade to go on as scheduled, but it doesn't appear that way.

No clue to who you called, but someone lied to you. No clue to why you're calling about it in June, but some people just have nothing else better to do. The date for the parade has been set, and planning is in progress. I know people that are already discussing it. There is nothing for you to worry about. The parade will go on, just like any other year. Now, it would be best for you to quit spreading false rumors.

My sources ARE the people who throw it every year. The Chamber and committee members. YOUR sources are wrong. You will find that out when you get stuck in traffic trying to find a spot on the avenue on December 6th.

The El Dorado Jaycees (Junior Chamber) is a leadership/networking organization of young adults between the ages of 20-40. They host/have hosted many events for our community throughout the years: soap box derbies; golf tournaments; Easter egg hunts accommodating over 300 kids; punt, pass, & kick competitions; circuses (such as the one last year); and much more. Many of our local members (past and present), have become state and national officers, while also holding alderman, justice of the peace, and state legislature positions (just to name a few). Bill Clinton even cut his teeth in Jaycees before he began his political career. These are the individuals we all need to be thankful to have in our community, as they are the ones many people have been complaining that we are losing. They are not "a bunch of kids," and are more than capable to handle something as simple as a parade. They did a great job with it last year, and the only budget cuts that were witnessed was from the A&P Commission, which was a budget cut seen LAST YEAR. Santa on the Square may be a new addition, one that nobody seems to know anything about; and, if it is, consider it an added bonus. Plans for the parade don't even begin taking place until August. But, yes, a date has been set for December 6.

It is put on through sponsorships, donations, and entry fees. So even if budgets are cut it will not affect the parade.

Jaycees are not what they used to be. Intellect of those running it now is very very low!

They have actually grown quite a bit over the past few years. No clue to who you are referring to, but there are many intellectual people in Jaycees. Sounds like you have a personal grudge that keeps you up at night. I feel sorry for you.

Sounds like that is exactly what is going on. I have taken my kids to many events that they have hosted, and they are some of the nicest people you would ever meet. Many of them don't even have kids, but they throw events that provide something for the little kids in this area to do. Anybody that would talk down about them unprovoked must be a bitter individual.
