I live in the neighborhood by the tennis courts .my kids came home from school talking about one of thier friends dog that was shot and killed by a rookie Eldorado cop. They went on to say that the cop did this just basically for target practice and had no compassion or appology for the People who loss of thier family pet. This could just be a rumor that never happend. I am only asking if any one else knows about this? Nothing in the paper about it?? Cop is supposed to live on 8th street close to rail road tracks. I hope this is just a rumor and nothing else.

Not a rumor. I shot the dog, little bass turd kept pooping in a bag and catching on fire on my porch. Eldo cop couldn't of hit him anyway, their aims off. I did it. Not sorry about it. No more "doggy bags" since the incident.

I doubt it. If a EPD officer discharged his firearm there is going to be a ton of paperwork and if he did it just for target practice he would be fired almost immediately.

P.S. We have a leash law hear. SO if their dog was killed while out running around, no matter how it was happened, they need to take most of the blame.

YES a 7 month old puppy was shot and killed in front of his owner who happen to b a 20 year old young kid that was chasing after his "pet" that had just gotten out of the gate! We are aware of the leash laws and abide by them because we have several dogs! The off duty officer who shot and killed this puppy walked away after it happen leaving the puppy to de in his owners arms- showing no remorse! I recently tried to get a copy of the police report and was told it ha been put away n this cops personal file !
I don't know all the laws but I am looking into this YOU BETTER BELIEVE IT! I do know that he was out of uniform walking his dog! He said he killed the puppy because he felt threatened for his life! I DO KNOW THAT an officer is supposed to exhausted all other means before firing his weapon! This puppy just wanted to play and make nice ! This cop used terrible judgement and shot and killed a young boys "pet" in the neighborhood right by mellor park tennis courts ! What if he hit a child ? I am very disturbed over the loss of our puppy and can't change that BUT I CAN STAY INVOLVED so my kids will not become bitter with our judicial system!

If you have a pet you need to take responsibility for it. If it got out from your restraints, by accident or not, it's still your responsibility.

The officer said the dog attacked him and he was forced to shoot and kill the dog.the owner has been giving him threats . He is in fear of his job and will go to any length to keep it, if I was the owner I would just back off while I still could. Cops look after their own and sometimes accidents can happen to people who don't respect their authority. Let it go it's just a dog.you can always get another. Sounds like the dog was going to cause problems and may have been better off delt with sooner than later.

Listen up hillstreet". A lot of people think like YOU - it's jus a dog go get another one!- u must have a cat? But I do respect your opinion about the law and the lengths they will go to when mistakes are made! No one wants to lose their job and be known as a puppy slayer- it would ruin him n this town and his future dreams to serve And protect the city from all those 7 month old puppies who are dangerous & on the loose! A newspaper, stick , rock, or even his damn tennis shoe thrown at this puppy would hAve solved this situation! Shooting to kill was in every way WRONG and he should b treated jus like any other civilian would be - can someone tell me what that punishment would be?

What kind of dog was it? Just wondering why he would shoot a puppy. Did he try anything else or just pull his gun out and shoot the poor thing.

mr hill street must be a police officer or maybe even the officer in question??? I am not sure if Eldorado has a leash law. I know one thing ,if a normal every day citizen discharged his fire arm in that neighborhood he would be in jail. Sounds like the city and police department are covering this thing up. If there was no wrong doing then the news paper would of ran the story with the angle of encouraging citizens to keep their dogs on leashes. Why hasn't anyone said the officers name? I wish someone would find out and post it. If there is nothing to hide then let's put his name out there.there is no need to be afraid of the police. They are supposed to serve and protect us. If there is an officer that we have to fear rather than trust to protect us than he should be exposed and relieved of his position.

You bunch of el dorado idiots. Probably 98 percent of the owners of pit bulls in this town are broke or almost. If the cop shot a pit bull more power to him. We need an ordinance that requires these gangsta wanna bees to have liability insurance

Ok Kate I wish I could say I appreciate your response but YOU have completely turned the loss of our puppy into the "Kate hates Pitts talk show"..... For your information it WAS NOT A PITT ! It was a catahoula puppy! HOWEVER ... I am the proud owner of 2 Pitts my self! One is 8 yrs old and the best old lady girl friend I could ask for! My Pitts are my family and I hve invested a lot of time and energy into providing them a good life- ANY DOG - no matter the breed - is only as good as the time spent w it by its owner! I'm sorry u feel so strongly against Pitts but please share ur info w someone else who shares your same views! No harm intended and I honestly respect how u feel ! Mayb one day u will understsnd

. You still haven't mentioned the officers name and rank . I understand if you are scared. Especially after reading hill streets post . Who wouldn't be a little afraid . They carry guns and badges. Some of them hide behind them obviously. Makes you wonder if they are men at all without their guns and badges
