Are all the fenced houses and even the Miles House by the Newton house being taken down? What is the deal?
I have not seen anything in the paper about this.?

You must not be part of "in the know" crowd.

Murphy USA is taking over the current building. Murphy Oil Corporation is building a new building.

It's a tough job breaking it to others just how uncool they are, but you did it well.

I guess they will leave the historic Rainey Newton House? Let's hope so. Just surprised none of this has been in the local paper,
Unless I have missed it. Surprises me how the paper prints some local news and not other things like this. Progress is important, but hard to see so many of our older historic homes disappear in the process.

Coming here to get the news is like relying on the Enquirer.

Here's your sign!

I would have thought, that with as much money as must have been spent renovating the Miles House, which I will always think of as the home of Miss Price, secretary to Judge LeCroy, it would have been moved to one of the near vacant lots, though they may be intended for Murphy Oil and Murphy USA parking.

A bunch of run down eye sore ancient houses tore down to expand a big business sounds like something that have been done many years ago

It had to happen eventually I mean they tore down a way bigger house to make way for home depot, for there to be growth things have to change. I know how some feel though as I do not even recognize Rogers AR. when I go up there as it looks nothing like it did when I grew up there in 60s. They were not afraid to grow though and it is so much more prosperous up there.

Thanks, but I had tried six times the previous night and yesterday morning to get something to post without success. There had been no local thread posts showing having been made within several hours. Was checking to see if alive.

The Miles House is the one that really bothers me. Such a nice old house and had a lot of work done to it. I would think that relocation would have been looked into. Maybe just too cost prohibitive. If a moving quote was given, I would like to know what it was. I am sure there are not many house movers in south arkansas either. Just sad it cannot be relocated and saved.
