I'm gonna ask you again. Say we go your route. Who makes the decisions about how many of which business we should allow? What metrics do they use?

I have heard rumors of a newly forming ELDORADO RETAIL MERCHANTS ASSC, BET THEY CAN COME UP WITH SOME GUIDLINES FOR YOU.

No, the chamber is supposed to encourage business, not keep business from coming.

That's hilarious. You want the existing stores to evaluate whether or not we need a new store? What do you think they'll say??

I thought you didn't want them involved in retail. Didn't you say they should be recruiting industry, not retail? So why do you care if they know retail?

The point that you made is you're an idiot. A print shop for t-shirts is completely different from an office supply store. The El Dorado economy decides if the pie is big enough in El Dorado, not you. By businesses getting together and deciding the fates of what businesses are acceptable to move here is illegal. It creates an oligopoly. If you had any form of economical education, you'd know that.

And you're wrong again about Bonanza. They closed their doors before Ryan's moved to town.

Bonanza closed because the owner either died or retired, I don't remember which, and his kids didn't want to carry on the business.

No he is still alive and working today for a wholesale food service company, and yes he closed it when ryans opened, and no to the t-shirt dumbas, it was a paper printing shop.

my point exactly, they know nothing about retail, they need to stick to industry, they are drowning the retailers in this town one by one with more retail.

Yep. More stores, less industry. Its sad to see a town that was once so industrialized dwindle down into desperate attempts at party spots and retail. As one complete moron of a poster stated "we don't need industry here". I can't help but think this blatant stupidity is actually the mentality of many of our town officials and regulators.

so true, what a shame, it is sad to think where this town will be in 10 years, all retail no industry, that is a formula for disaster,
and folks here don't even see it coming.

You've still never explained how the process would work.

So how would this community decide when we were ready for another Chinese restaurant? Clothing store? Coffee shop?

common sense,2 of a kind would be perfect, we have 4 untill last friday, I believe by the end of the year we will have 2.......... 2 of a kind.........2 chinese......2 mexican ect, ect, ect.

2 feed stores would be perfect, by the end of the year that's all we will have, just watch.

2 office supplies,

2 hardware stores,

ect,ect,ect,

Eldo cannot handle anymore retail than 2 of a kind..........I would go with the 2 of kind rule, sweet and simple.

We have more than two burger joints. Chicken places. BBQ. Catfish. Mexican. Clothing. Shoes. Pizza. Sandwiches. Farm and ranch. Groceries.

Common sense should have told you that you're not an economist.
