Better question, what was a 22 year old doing with a carload of 13 to 17 year olds? Sorry to see a young person struck down so early, when her life was just beginning.

That isn't nothin, the neighbors 14 year old boy used to play with the other neighbors 5 year old girls.(and that's ok with the local dhs) It is so sad when parents don't keep a better watch on their teens. Sometimes, the kids have to pay the price. This is not said to hurt anyone's feelings but, maybe a reminder to other parents. Teens think they are grown, when they get behind the wheel. Don't let her life be in vain, if you have kids, use all your might to guide them the right direction.

You're exactly right. It seems that as long as the teens are out of the parents hair and not bugging them, they could care less what they're up to. I'm a firm believer that age groups (teens) should associate with like age groups. Anytime teenagers start getting out of their league with older teens and the eighteen plus crowd disaster is usually close at hand. I'm not saying my teen will grow up and not be a foul up but it won't be from a lack of effort on my part to stay up in the middle of her business and trying to guide her in the right direction and how to make good decisions. I also hope anyone reading this will not let her life be in vain and be a "meddlesome" parent. It won't win you any popularity contests with your kid but if they make it to adulthood, you will have done all you can do to give them a chance.

Good grief, JuJu, just not the same thing. It's like asking, why did that store sell beer to that man and he got a DUI. It's not a freak accident.

kids will be kids, regardless of a parents best efforts, accidents happen, sometimes they make bad choices when they go out on their own, regardless of how they were raised, and accidents happen, ya can't keep them in jail for their entire lives to protect them, accidents happen.......even if you keep them in jail, they'll do it when they are of age, and accidents can happen....Im just saying,,,a lot of people post on here just so they can say what they want to say, since their better halfs at home wont listen, get tired of reading the obvious that could just go unsaid..........so far, this all could go unsaid.

Could someone please post either a link or write what the newspaper article said? We are friends with the family but don't live there, and we are having trouble finding information. Any help would be appreciated.

An El Dorado teen was killed Sunday night in a one-vehicle accident on New London Road that also injured three other teens and one adult, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

No one in the 1995 Toyota 4-Runner was wearing a seatbelt, the ASP report said.

The driver, Caci Cavalier, 17, of 113 Shirley Lane, El Dorado, died after failing to negotiate a curve at high speeds and striking a tree head-on, according to the report.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by Union County Coroner Curtis Butterfield.

The report said that weather conditions at the time of the accident were rainy, and the pavement was wet.

Dustin Gathright, 13, of 104 Vestel Loop, Strong, a passenger, is listed in stable condition in the ICU at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

According to the ASP, other passengers were Tabitha Evans, 16, of 6228 Autumn Wood, Haughton, La.; Kurtis Gulledge, 22, of 1313 Rhodes Chapel, El Dorado, and Daniel French, 13, of 258 French Lane, El Dorado.

Information about their conditions wasn’t available as of press-time.

Not nice..parents do not always have control over what their kids do, no matter how they try to raise them.
