What is it that you're looking for someone to come forward and talk about? It should be no surprise in today's economy that construction is slowing down and since they are a construction company their work is slowing down. In the construction field when the work slows down layoffs ensue. If they're getting less work then they don't need as many employees. So again, what is it that you want to discuss?

My Dad worked at Lion Oil (Tosco) for years (over 20 yrs) and recently retired about 3 years ago. I talk to him often and he talks to a lot of his friends that still work there, but he has never mentioned any layoffs. Lion Oil is the basis of this town, I sure hope they don't go under. That would most likely be the end of El Dorado. What a sad thing to watch the demise of the town I once loved and stood up for. I just don't get it. Wtf happened to this town?

Nothing happening here that's not happening everywhere in the country these days. Milam Construction had a lay off 2 weeks ago, most of the electrical contractors in town have had lay offs and these were due to the massive lay offs that just happened at Chemtura. It's ugly everywhere but especially so here in El Do.

No, I don't "got it". Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe I have worked in the construction field and might have a better understanding than you on how it works? Why don't you go get back on the short bus and take a long trip. Your epeen is running over.

Lion Oil Company just hired 21 new refinery workers and will NOT be laying off... I read some of the comments that were made and i honestly think that some people make up things just to have something to talk about... Sad, really sad. People get a life.

If the price of oil keeps dropping, look for layoffs in the oil industry, but not necessarily Lion Oil. I'm talking work hands, well services, support services, etc. Also, I heard West Frazier in Huttig may shut down for good after the first of the year. Union County has probably been harder than any other in Arkansas during this recession. It's as tough as I've ever seen it.
